This is fantastic. I didn't think Joy Division was at all popular in the States. As a fan of Ian Curtis, I take my hat off to whoever's idea this was, bringing Curtis' lyrics to the attention of other generations. When you look at the background of the song, this is both tear jerking yet life affirming. Can someone please send this to New Order as I'm sure they would like it. Thanks.

The only part I feel sad about this rendition is to only have discovered it nearly 8 years later. What a truly wonderful, moving, touching rendition of a fantastic song. What I also like about this Flash Chorus version besides any and all impromptu involvement in this arrangement is that it also has such a great collaborative vibe, reminiscent of large band like The Arcade Fire. Any way. This was beautiful. Thanks for doing this and posting this.

Yes, totally with you on this.
@raihanshrk19552 жыл бұрын
Why cuz it's overrated? I kinda agree with you, but for me it's still good, yet im not a poser. I knew JD before people wear it. Yes people wear it but they dont know what the JD actually is.
@voiceover21912 жыл бұрын
@@raihanshrk1955 Your comment is a bit puzzling to me? What do you consider overrated, exactly? I didn't use that word, I just don't like most covers of JD for various reasons, which I could sum up as: - Because the people in question absolutely did not get the music - Because they violate the music by trivializing it (like turning Love will tear us apart into a tear jerk tragic love song) - Because they are simply bad musicians and play badly By saying "yet I'm not a poser" you imply you consider me one? Why? I only said that I dislike most covers but really like this one, how does that make me a poser? Suggesting that only you know what JD "actually is", is a bit odd to say the least, claiming knowledge and/or insight about something leading you to raise yourself above the rest of us "posers". And you knew them earlier? What are you, 9? Is this a pissing contest? For the record, I saw them live in 1980 in Eindhoven, Holland, is that early enough for you? You shouldn't make assumptions about people you don't know, makes you look like an arrogant git, but hey, if the shoe fits, wear it. A pretty decent JD cover band I consider a Dutch band, called "Joy Division Undercover". I added link, check it out and see if you like it. Of course no one can really do them justice, but this band does a pretty good job and I think they do it from the right place of true dedication. I also like covers of JD done live by Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead. Anyway here's the link. Let's just cut all the bs and just enjoy the music man, isn't that what it should be about? kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2fQnoVpoLGhbas

I came across this one by accident, two days ago. There are many other ways of bringing Joy Division to the attention of the uninitiated. But to make them understand what this band was about? And to make them aware of the many facets of 'Atmosphere' but also the music and lyrics of Joy Division in general? Aside from introducing them to the original, I'd DEFINITELY would consider playing people this video. Seeing so many folks celebrating this song and also enjoying in doing so gets to me. I'm getting all emotional, every time I see and hear this! Long way of saying: THANK YOU

I think this : when Joy Division wrote this song they were just 4 young men who were doing their best. It struggled to make the charts on it's first release. Since then it has just grown. It's impact on any listener is immediate and lasting; it clearly affects anyone who performs it and it has a power to move which remains undiminished.

This is my favourite thing (Joy Division) combined with my worst fear (flash mobs of drama people). Great tune, beautifully realised here, a long way from the rainy and suicidal industrial landscapes of Manchester in the late 70's early 80s. Enjoyed it but would run a mile if this happened around me. The cheers at the end were really jarring.

I did not expect to like this,but bloody hell,a great song will always prove its greatness,and "Atmosphere" certainly does that in spades.Everyone involved in this should be proud of themselves for this stirring uplifting rendition.There are only 2 other artists who could (and should) do this justice - Bruce Springsteen,and if they ever reform This Mortal Coil.There is one brilliant version that the late Adrian Borland (The Sound) has done,and of course Peter Hook and The Light.
