Buster Crabbe is a forgotten name now, but his Flash Gordon movies, chopped up into episodes for syndication, were still being shown on British TV in the early 1970s when I saw them. I loved them then and they still have a period art deco charm now

as others have posted, i watched these in reruns as a little kid with no idea how old these serials were. same deal with the Our Gang comedies, i figured as a very young kid that Spanky et al were still little kids themselves, but i was off by many decades. i had no understanding of old cars and clothing styles at that age. despite the low-budget science fiction, i definitely enjoyed Flash.
