Great tutorial. In any case, new gpus don't have that much leeway. You'll be hitting a limit no matter what you do. Instability will start to happen way before you hit those newly expanded limits though. even though you pump more voltage, after you go above a certain clock speed, the GPU will start to crash. No matter what. Especially the lower end models. They aren't as highly binned. So don't expect to get a suprim or something high end performance on a lower spec model.

I recently bought a PNY 4080 super verto OC because it was the cheapest 4080s around. Sadly, its power limit is locked at 320w. However, thanks to this video, I flashed it to a bios with a much higher power limit, and it's perfoming better without any manual overclocking. Just increased limits. I'll do a before and after to see the delta with OC involved between stock and flashed bios. Thanks a lot for this video, man. It removed my bios flashing worries and allowed me to test various bios. It's a very good feeling to know I paid closer to MSRP, but I get the performance of much higher priced cards. The only thing it lacks is better aesthetics 😂.

Brother, you are a champion and funny. I have a question. I have a msi gaming x slim 4080 card. I want to burn a version of suprim x because I'm stuck in overclocking. According to what I checked, the hdmi and displayport ports are the same and there are 3 fans. I should be fine? And if I burn I need to be on silent mode?

Hey man, big thxs for the tutorial. I have my 4070 super running like a ti stable now, crazy boost like 13%. I still have temperature room, but im hitting the volt limit (1120mv). Power limit has still a lot of room, i think there is no way around the volt limit right? But im thinking about flashing a ti bios on my super, would it work? What are you thoughts? And the cuda cores are those hardware or software based? The chip, memory etc are the same. Thanks man ❤

No way around Volt Limit and I wouldn't run it super high all the time. I also wouldn't flash any other bios of any other model on a card that isn't that model. But fuck it if you wanna do it let me know how it goes! *But don't do it. :)

What was the max power draw you saw your card pull using 3 x 8 pin to a 12vhpwr? I rememer seeing in your unboxing video that it pulled 500W. So 3 x 8 pin adapter can pull more that 450W. GN and jay and everyone said if you use 3 x 8 pin youre maxed at 450W. Do the 4 sense not work? Even if you flashed a higher watt bios it shouldnt work in theory because of the sense pins.

I was at 520 with the 3pin. I had to flash this bios to do it. It worked perfectly for me. Possible Nvidia changed this in their drivers though. I'm now having an issue getting full wattage out of my new 666 watt bios. I'm only getting 560....

I use a Corsair hx1500i and use 4 150watt to 16 pin to card. You can see the cable melt if you can see it on the card. But the 16 pin hv plug going into the power supply can and will melt the same way and you can not see it till too late!!! Be careful. My system all plugs run aqt 32 deg cel all the time. I trust deciding the power from the PSU way over one hv cable with sense pins that are hidden and you wont know until there's damage to the PCB inside your power supply. Just trying to help. I run the strix z 790 and strix oc 4090 and the Intel i9 14900k cpu. Just so you have some knowledge about my system. 9h ya and a 2 tb Samsung 990 pro m.2 nvme and a 2 tb crucial 5.0 pcie.By the way, My name is Scott. Thank you for your program!!!

Can someone help me? I have a MSI 4080 Super ventus, can I flash the Asus Strix 4080 Super bios on it to raise tdp to 420? Finally, the asus has 3x DP ports, while my card only has 2x dp ports. Would that affect anything?

Should be fine since you're going from 2 to 3, if you were going the other way you might lose the functionality of one. Flash on one bios first and keep the other one stock.

@@ZorzGaming ASUS 4080's have 3 DP and 2 HDMI, while the MSI's only have 1 HDMI. Not sure if that matters. I have a Suprim X 4080, which is a beast, but has a Max PWR of 400W. It's dual BIOS, so I flashed one to the Zotac Extreme which has a max of 450W. Been thinking of flashing that side to the ASUS Stix, which is 420W, but also has a zero fan mode. But the ASUS cards have 2 HDMIs. I ma give it a shot.

I wanna try flashing a different bios on my PNY 4090 XLR8 non oc but what holds me back is that my motherboard is an Apex Encore which lacks integrated graphics output. Are there any usb graphics cards I could plug in just to boot into Windows in case a bios flash goes wrong and I get a soft brick? I have flashed many GPUS in the past with no issue but I had integrated graphics on my previous rigs/laptops.

I need advice from someone like yourself that seems to know what you're talking about. I just followed this process in hoped to fix an issue I've been having, but this didn't help. The issue goes as follows; A few months ago, I was playing a game when I started getting some serious FPS stutters. I didn't know why, I thought I was experiencing some sort of thermal throttling. Well after not knowing what I was doing or talking about, I decided to re-paste my CPU. I did that, and it didn't help, so I stopped playing graphically intensive games AT ALL for a long time. I got sick of not being able to play my big name titles so I decided to double-check my re-pasting work and did everything AGAIN. To my surprise the issue resolved itself. Back to now, about 2 weeks ago now, I was playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019, and while in the middle of a match, I started getting that stuttering issue again. I did some more research and downloaded MSI Afterburner. I cranked my fan speed to max, and when I tabbed into my game, the fans stopped.. boom, I found out the thermal throttling issue... My fans are just completely turning off when I'm playing something graphically intensive. I kept the game running, all I did was tab out. When I tab out to say a Google window, the fans spin, when I click back into the game, they just completely stop- zero RPM. Dude I seriously need help. Is it a power supply problem?! Is it a graphics card problem?! I randomly go it to work one day and two days later up to now I'm still stuck with this issue. I don't want to buy a new power supply just to find out it's not the issue... And if it's a graphics card, then I might as well build a nicer computer with all new components because this one is a prebuilt I bought used, and I'd have to upgrade multiple things anyway. The card is a MSI RTX 2080 SUPER VENTUS XS OC

I'm playing CoD MW2 right now, and if I limit my in-game FPS to 40, my fans work. Anything over 40 and the fans stop working. Would that help point to any specific kind of failure?

I'm really sorry to hear this! There are many reasons this could be happening. Is it possible to check if you can plug the fans directly into the motherboard to see if its just a fan issue? Is the card still under warranty? Have you updated the nvidia driver? The cpu isn't the issue so reseating the cpu and applying new paste wont do much. So you can manually control the fans in msi but in game they dont follow the same curve? Try flashing to original Bios. get the new nvidia driver. and then put in a custom fan curve and see if that works. Let me know :)

@@ZorzGaming I can manually set the fans and fan curve etc, but as soon as something graphically intensive is started, like CoD, or even FurMark, the fans just stop. I set the fans to be 100% in MSI Afterburner, they're running fine, loud as ever, and when the game opens, it becomes completely silent, and I can physically see the fans are at a dead stop. If I tab out of the game, they come back. I learned that if I set the in-game max framerate to like 40 FPS, they come back on... how weird is that?!?!?!? Is there any way I can rule out some hardware by doing anything specific? Edit; Weirdly enough, the other day when I made my original comment, I launched the game with MSI Afterburner set to 100%, and they never shut off... so I just left my computer on all week and played after work etc, when I got the chance. Then like last night I noticed my Voicemod crashed, and would not open back up no matter what. Later on I clicked shut down and the second I did that I got a blue screen. The computer restarted itself and when Voicemod opened on startup, I got an error, googling the error I found out it means something in windows has become currupted.. After doing the health scans from Command Prompt and them not fixing anything, I ended up just having to do an "in-place upgrade" I believe they called it, where I basically reinstalled or forced a windows update while keeping all my personal files etc. Anyway, that fixed the corruption issue I randomly had I guess, but now that my computers been restarted a few times the fan issue is back after these few days.. Edit 2; Some forums have said fan issues can be software related, like multiple software trying to access fan control. I've tried to do a little bit of safe-mode trouble shooting, but my attempts were instantly shot down. I wanted to launch a game or even FurMark while in safe-mode, but because of how safe-mode works, there must be a few things that are necessary for games to run that just aren't initiated, so CoD won't open, and I believe FurMark gave me some error about not being able to access fullscreen so it wouldn't work either. Is there anything else I can try in safe-mode? At this point I feel like I've tried everything short of completely wiping my entire computer and starting from scratch. I've avoided doing that because I have all kinds of files and no real great way of backing everything up externally as of right now to do a complete fresh install.

@@HiptonismHD When you're first on check what processes are running and see whats happening. There probably is something trying to control the fans beyond what afterburner is doing. You may have to reinstall windows but the good news is it seems the card itself isn't damaged. Try uninstalling afterburner and using display driver uninstaller and getting rid of everything and then getting the newest driver and then getting afterburner reinstalled and make sure nothing else is running. Check startup menu to see if you have something else starting automatically.

@@ZorzGaming I tried something after work just now, and I don't want to speak too soon, but so far so good. This is a prebuilt, and they had used some of those cable extensions people use to make everything look cleaner and more uniform, but I bypassed those and used a whole new un-used PCI-E lead from the power supply. It's working right now, but the issue has also went away and came back without warning before, so I'll keep you updated after tonight, and after a few power cycles where the issue seemed to change on restarts after different lengths of time. Thanks for all the help so far, although I've been fighting so much with it, I've already done everything you mentioned many times 😅

Whichever one you're on is the one that will flash. I recommend keeping one stock just in case. I flashed the Silent one and keep performance cause I'd never use silent.

How do I tell to nvflash64 utility which bios I want to flash without switching the chiip of bios that is in use? If you flash as usual, then the current chip is flashing (in the position setting by the bios switch) as I understand it. And how to flash silent chip bios (second chip) while bios chip is in performance switch position, or vice versa (flash perfomance, first chip while bios chip is in silent switch mode)? is "-- index" a kind of parameter responsible for pci slots? Does nvflash64 have a parameter in command line that response for determining the specific physical chip of bios where I want to install the firmware (flashing)?
