Hands down. Your tutorial is one of the best on KZbin. People pay money to get such information. Thank you for sharing this with us. This is a million dollar info for a hobbyist like me. Thanks once again! I will definitely print out this tutorial

One thing that's great about KZbin is so many resource videos. One bad thing about KZbin is weeding through the crap. So many people blow through and blow over subjects just to show you an overview of their style or what they do without the technicalities of what's actually going on. Thus, as a viewer we really don't learn anything we're just wasting valuable minutes. I just wanted to really say thank you thank you thank you for making a true tutorial. One that we can actually learn and absorbed from. One that we can use for the rest of our lives from the knowledge that has been given. This for video tutorial that you put together has changed the course of my photography for the rest of my life. Thank you

You are in a roll this evening (21:30 here). Everything covered in a perfect logical way, it made total sense all the way through. What a wonderful Christmas present to give to your viewers and I wish this had been available quite a few years ago. I did watch your other series though when I first started using a studio setup which was incredibly helpful.

What made your video vastly superior in my opinion was the time you took to create pictures/diagrams instead of just talking about "stuff". Not only is a picture worth a thousand words, it's usually a lot easier to understand than a thousand words.

Thank you so much Ed, tried your advice on lady freind Lindsey, a lot of trial and error, but eventually really good portrait,s, with catch light,s in her eye,s. Bit of work in post, I reckon pro standard. Trying to standadsize camera setting,s iso, f-stop, etc so it,s second nature, you know it work,s.

thanks ed, yours is one of the few channels i subscribe to. i always use my speedlight for bounce , but want to try umbrellas. given the small, directional flashtube of speedlights, how is the light spreading to cover the circumference of the umbrella? is there something in the softbox you introduce at about the 7:30 time in the video that bounces the light around the softbox?
@edverosky
@edverosky 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Kenneth. Light comes out of that flat little flash head in a surprisingly wide pattern. Sure, most of it is concentrated in the middle, depending on the flash's zoom setting. It doesn't cover the entire circumference of the umbrella, but it gets close depending on how you position things. in a softbox, light is certainly bouncing around (there is also an inner baffle).

I would suggest you also recommend beginners to get a sturdy S type (Bowen) clamp/mount as it's much safer and protects flash somewhat in the event of a fall

Is this series what you were working on during your sporadic posting or is it from one of your courses that you just decided to make public? It's hard to tell as you really look no different than your videos from 6 years ago. Not that it matters, I still enjoy seeing how others handle these tasks.

My question is : if we are using a TTL flash on camera then flash itself adjust the exposure according to the flash but when we use same flash as a off camera the how TTL system works or how flash read or take a correct exposure reading according to the flash In short my question is : when we use the off camera flash we don't know how much of light flash give on the subject
@edverosky
@edverosky 5 жыл бұрын
The flash has to get TTL info from the camera. It can do this with a TTL cord or wirelessly. The camera measures the flash with a pre-flash, then sends the flash a correct power setting for the real exposure (all instantaneously).
