Love the video! New follower here! I have a very protective of me 1 year old gander who will run toward or even bite anyone that comes around me. I love it but it’s not very popular with the rest of the family. He follows me everywhere I go. I want to get one or two females for eggs and also a mate for him. I have 7 Chinese geese but he pretty much stays to himself when not by me. If I were two order two female babies would he eventually pair with them or is the age difference an issue? Thank you for the help!

When the geese are similar in size you can integrate your entire flock. After your geese are used to each other they could pair up. Every goose is different, but it is possible. When your geese have all reached the same size, they don't even notice the age difference. Thank you for watching!

does this Embden geese fly so I need to clip their wings to prevent them from flying away?
@MeyerHatchery4 жыл бұрын
The Embden Geese do have the ability to fly. You could put poultry netting over your setup to help with them flying, or trim their wing. Hope this helps!

I beleive they dont since they are so large
@FlatEarthKiller2 жыл бұрын
@@Jexel.2007 they can, geese were designed to fly without running like planes. This is why you can easily knock out canada geese. A swan needs to run like a plane just to fly and go the same distance to go above houses, as swans are heavier than geese.

I thought they were a non flight bird

Do these geese do better in single pairs or trios? I ordered 1 male and 2 females for this year…
@MeyerHatchery Жыл бұрын
A trio is always really good with the geese. 1 male to 2 females is a great ratio to have.
@TheFrogfeeder Жыл бұрын
@@MeyerHatchery I appreciate your reply, but you used the word male for both numbers… Am I good with 1.2 ratio m/f? Or am I backwards and shoulda got 2.1 m/f? Another channel just told me his 2.2 geese both males go after only 1 female, so I’m not 100% clear on your response. I’ve had ducks and chickens for years, but This my first go with geese and I ordered them all from you guys this year along with some cornishx and dark brown layers… next year I gotta be ready cause I really want some of those giant Dewlap Toulouse but I dropped the ball for this year :(

Oh my goodness, so sorry for the confusion. 1 male to 2 females is a great ratio! Geese are so fun to raise, such a great experience!
