Dumbledore won't ask the parents of the players to play in this very dangerous game, but they need approval signed by their guardian to go in hogsmeade

Sorry for gravedigging your comment from 4 months. But I think in the magical world, physical injuries aren't quite as serious as they are in the muggle world. I mean kids are in possession 24/7 of a device that can blow up another student (their wand) if they want to. They're more concern about attacks from other dangerous wizards using dark magic that can't easily be cured by spells and potions and in some cases irreversible. And with hogwarts being protected by powerful magic and the supervision of the staff, the game of quidditch even in a thunderstorm is to them, far less dangerous than letting kids roam outside the magical protection of the school grounds.

I honestly hadn't thought of this! Thanks for filling in a plothole, it makes sense that their clothing is probably magically guarded so things like lightning and pneumonia are mild annoyances, whereas curses are pribably designed to resist attempts at countering them.

Oh yeah! So in the books Cedric Digory is the Hufflepuff seeker and in the Prisoner of Askaban book he catches the snitch in this game because Harry falls off his broom. He actually feels bad about that and doesn't feel like he won fairly, and the Gryffindor team holds a grudge against Cedric for beating them. But in the movies, they didn't do any of that. Maybe that still is Cedric but he just gets electricuted and recasted. But I don't think they thought about it.

I like the way this film presented darkness and more mature themes, especially as part of a larger theme where the progression of darkness in the movies run parallel to Harry's exploration and discovery of who he is. "He's got a point you know" just casual character assassination for Ron as per usual. The more you rewatch the movies, the more you realize how much they massacre some of the characters compared to their book counterparts. Book Ron would literally kick Movie Ron's ass if he heard him agreeing with Snape bullying Hermione.
@moviehermit5631
@moviehermit5631 2 жыл бұрын
And it was all to make Hermione to be more of a badass who never does any wrong. Most of her big lines in the movies were Ron’s lines (such as explaining the wizarding world and how it’s bad to hear voices, since Ron’s the only one who grew up in the wizarding world). While I do love the movies, they sacrificed Ron’s character by making him the jerk who’s the butt of the joke while Hermione has little to no actual flaws that are even slightly delved into. Basically, Hermione was book smart, while Ron was street smart. But in the movies, Hermione is a genius who never fails, while Ron is an idiot who is either eating or arguing
@pcrassen4975
@pcrassen4975 2 жыл бұрын
@@moviehermit5631 Yep. Which is character assassination for HER as well. Book Hermione was charming, compelling and someone to look up to because she was smart and could prove people wrong who judged her by her heritage in spite of her flaws, not because they not existing. All three of them had their roles, which included their flaws. In the movies they are all pale imitations of their characters. Harry's wit and logic which was born from his abusive upbringing is nowhere to be found, Ron's just a bumbling idiot who eats like you said when in the books he was the literal glue that kept the trio functioning a lot of times, as well as the window into the wizarding world, and Hermione had the book knowledge the other two lacked, as well as the understanding of the rules to know how to bend them enough to get them out of trouble if needed. She WAS badass. But she wasn't flawless like Movie Hermione. Her being flawless takes away from her rather than adds imo and basically destorys any chance for her to grow over the series. And that's not even going into side characters like Ginny, who might as well not exist in the movies and honestly nothing would change. The only reason they seem to have included her past the second movie is because Harry ends up with her. Except in the movies there's zero indication or exploration of that relationship other than "Shoelace".

One thing that Alfonso wasn’t great for was risking the story for the sake of his own creativity. At some points this was good. But JK mentioned how he had to be talked out of certain decisions because they totally went against the source material. It’s similar to Mike Newell in Goblet of fire when he wanted to burn down the forbidden forest cos it would look cool, but forgetting the amount of magical creatures that live in the forbidden forest. It gets to a point where you have to be firm with directors. Alfonso Cuaron is amazing. No doubt. But I think if he directed more movies he would try and change too much to fit his creativity.

Nah, he wasn’t, he was simply trying to get Remus outed. While he did have suspicions that Lupin was working with Sirius, it was never supposed to really come across as Snape protecting Harry, more as Snape trying to get Remus out. After all, Remus never took part in the bullying that Snape, James, and Sirius did to each other, so Snape is just hating on Remus. That’s why he told them about werewolves - he was expecting Hermione to figure it out and tell everyone (Snape has constantly believed that Harry isn’t smart, I doubt that he would ever trust Harry to figure it out), which would have gotten Remus kicked out.

It looks cool, but it is nonsensical and doesn't make sense from a story perspective. The point of Harry seeing what he thinks is the Grim is that Harry is actually seeing Sirius Black in his dog form. In particular, Sirius wanted to come to Quidditch in part to watch Harry play, and so Harry thought he saw the Grim when he played. These clouds have no actual explanation, as if the writers didn't understand that particular plot point and thought Harry really saw omens of death.

The way Dumbledore stood and handled it. That dude just exudes badassery and confidence. No wonder Voldemort was scared of him.

I can see many people commenting on how bad the weather was still they were conducting match. We should not forget that saving lives here is much easy. You can't die in a quidditch match when Dumbledore is sitting and watching you. Here it may be easy to kill someone but harder to actually die. 😊😊
