The writers probably thought they were doing something fresh and meaningful by humanizing T-800. But T-800 was already successfully humanized 30 years ago, in the last scene of T2. That's how you do it right.
@jmckendry843 жыл бұрын
I've not see Dark Fate, but I don't think you're comparing like with like. In T2 we only get to see a T800 learning for a few day (or weeks?). We only get to see the very beginning of it learning what it is to be human, while it is still driven by its mission to protect John. In this film the T800 has been living freely as human, its mission long since complete. It is going to have had a totally different experience to the T2 version. Frankly I think that the idea of a Terminator living a "normal" life is potentially interesting. Whether Dark Fate managed it is a different question!
@AngkelBee3 жыл бұрын
@@jmckendry84 Yeah I thought so too! Just the idea of T-800 learns about humanity alone, not mixing with other agendas like Dark Fate would be interesting ! And keeping it low budget like T1 would have helped it so they can have more creative freedom and focused on the storytelling itself. Because I think even though T5 and T6 sucks balls, I think Arnold did a very solid work for T800, even with his aging.

Everybody was bitching about Terminator Salvation when it came out, in fact it was the only one that at least realized: - there's no more place to go with time travel stories after T1 (future is set and time traveling to change it causes it to happen) and T2 (no fate, heroic struggle does change the future) - after T1000 in T2 any shapeshifting Terminator that has other stuff (guns, skeleton inside, nanotechnology, splitting in two, whatever) is just a step backwards, less scary They could've continued Salvation into a Future War trilogy with Arnold appearing as at most more 5 second CGI cameos, they could make those less memorable movies without completely shitting on T1 and T2 with every installment.

The thing is comedy worked in the original terminator movies because of the tension, you saw Arnold was an incredible bad ass and the scene's were suspenseful and then the comedy comes in at the right time. With this movie and the other sequels, they create the scenes with the intent of being comedic, as opposed to keeping up the suspense first. All of the Terminator movies after this second one have fallen into this trap. The other thing is there's no attachment to Dani or the cyborg chick lol. Sarah Connor was interesting because we saw her transform for a normal person to a soldier and it was believable, with Dani, you don't really get to see the regular person part so it's not as interesting. Plus the same story was literally already done. I get that it's hard to make a good terminator movie... if you stray too far, it will lose the feel. But if you stay too close, it's just a rehash of all the shit we've seen multiple times already.

Some guns can slow it down, other weapons the military has could obliterate any terminator model there is, Includind the t-3000 machine phase matter and the t-5000.
@lucasnlica7372 жыл бұрын
They may not be much but it's enough to slow it down and it's not like they had a chance getting bigger yet expensive weapons from normal Gun shops like the 50 cal Sniper. Which is mostly why in T1 Kyle preferred dodging and becoming unpredictable in order to give himself a fighting chance despite having only one weapon that time
@peoplez129 Жыл бұрын
You'd think Sarah Conner, with all the access she has to weapons, would have at least had a custom laser gun made to deal with terminators. Even if it took up the entire back of a van. Not to mention rail guns are also a thing now, and they don't need to be giant. If she was really preparing for terminators, she'd have whatever she could get her hands on. Considering the size of that EMP device, one wonders why the heck she isn't just permanently walking around with one. And it's not like money is an issue, because she access to rocket and grenade launchers and all kinds of other weapons. Those are not cheap things. You can literally build or buy laser and rail guns right now for a fraction of the cost of a rocket launcher. She just needs them to be souped up for more power, which is not actually that difficult.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t hate the idea of the Terminator acting as a father. I do, however, hate this scene. I kinda wish we could’ve gotten a longer fatherhood story arc for T2, and maybe in the third movie, john has just turned 18 or something, and another terminator (say, the Rev-9, a decent concept but VERY poorly used in this movie) gets sent. The T-800 gets destroyed, sacrificing himself in a sneak attack by the Rev-9 or something. It’s just an idea that would probably not hold up very well without some significant changes, but If I had to have one thing different about the franchise, that’s it. Along with this movie burned at the stake. Genesis, in all it’s shitty writing, wasn’t all that bad compared to this. They at least tried to do something unique that wasn’t just guff. Edit: keeping that cop alive and re-integrating him into the story, if you ask me, was a really nice touch. After seeing something like that, of course he’d want to find out more. Nobody sees a T-1000 in action and just goes, “meh, alright”. Really good use of continuity.

It's sad that no one is able to enjoy this film, I can understand the frustrations they may have with some decisions, but all in all it innovated greatly in terms of terminator designs, expanded upon the capabilities of the T-800, and gave us some pretty awesome new characters imo. The older cast members were flawless and really served well in their role to compliment the new ones, I hope they come out with a sequel and I hope that people can stop being so salty. Yes, this movie had definite flaws but it was by no means a terrible movie.
