The Terminator and T2 work so well because they are in the same universe, on the same timeline. T1 is a 1984 movie set in 1984; T2 is a 1991 movie set in 1995. Judgement Day is still in the future, and it must happen otherwise there wouldn't be Terminators to travel back in time. All the other movies in the franchise (except for Redemption) are on an alternate branching timelines. The alternate timelines break the rules of the in-movie universe which in turn eliminates the stakes. Dark Fate is the worst - it actually makes T1 and T2 pointless, and establishes the neverending cycle.

A few years ago, I showed this movie to my then 15-year-old son for the first time. I had showed him Terminator 1 before and he loved that. I also told him 'the second one is even better, a true action classic' and informed him that 'in the nineties, all the boys your age wanted to see this movie and they _all_ did... multiple times'. I also said the opening scene alone was brilliant. Well, five minutes later jr was convinced his dad had it right.

*Thumbs-down.* That is not the way to approach it with your child or anyone else. You put pressure on your child to agree with you by essentially expecting him to agree with you. You are not to say how "brilliant" you thought the opening scene was before your son saw it. Your son should have watched it first. *Then,* ask him how good the opening scene was and what you thought. Give your son a chance to disagree with you instead of feeding your ego.

Everyone in the U.S Do you know? I am Korean. When this movie came out, Koreans were shocked. I was shocked by the technology of the United States. North Korea's supreme leader also watched the movie. Kim Jong-il, the former film expert of Kim Il-sung's son, said he could never beat the U.S. after watching Terminator 2. In fact, after the release of the film, the Soviet Union was defeated. I think it was a historical film where the Soviet Union and Japan gave in to the fact that the United States was the world's strongest. Both Soviet officials and Japanese artists surrender. Lastly, it was a movie that my father, who was a Korean police officer who died of pancreatic cancer, liked. Thank you. 😢😢😢

I knew I saw a moment in history when I watched this for the first time in the theater. Amazing film. Holds replay value. Just a great action film with great characters and a great plot. Everything about this movie was GREAT.

They made good movies back then. Now we have to cope with Barbie.

There were plenty of suck movies back then too. And there are plenty of good movies being made now. I’m not saying this for the sake of being contrarian but because I want us all to have fair and realistic views.

Well they made Mannequin in the 80's which is like Barbie if you think about it

On the day that this film came out for rental on video in the U.K, my best friend at the time, Frank, waited outside the video shop for it to open and was the first to rent Terminator 2. He came straight round to my house and we watched it together for the first time. We were 10 years old. What an amazing day and what a great friend.

The lady pulling away her boyfriend was the smartest one in the place. Someone who doesn't even flinch at being burned with a cigar, slammed in the back of the head with a pool cue, stabbed in the chest, then breaks they guy's wrist who did the stabbing and pins him to the pool table through the shoulder with same knife ought to tell anyone with a modicum of neural tissue to GTFO....🤣🤣

It would’ve been easier to find clothes that fit if the T-800/CSM-101 walked into a gym with all the mesomorphs.
