I imagine Penguins backstory: Being raised as a freak show, run by an abusive Ring Leader, he uses his Machiavellian mind to win the support of other freaks and performers. He kills the Ring Leader and becomes the new head but he’s worse than the old one

The greatest part of this movie : it doesn't need lots of stunts. Everything relies on interaction. Action scenes have little to do in the movie. All we see is main villain plot slowly and splendidly unveiled, a hero mainly in the dark but doing his job silently to thwart evil and an anti hero driven by feline instincts yet incomplete as manipulated by villain plot. Really as efficient as deep. Nolan's was more on the action but not overdone by it as we could feel intensity. That's why Burton Dark's world matched Batman's : scary yet mesmerizing

This movie is made up of a lot of good scenes, and then some really REALLY silly scenes that don't match the tone of the good scenes at all. This one is a great gothic horror scene for adults, but then they have almost slapstick silly fights in various places throughout the movie, and stuff that's so ridiculous you could really only get away with it in a kids' film. Tim Burton needed to pick an audience. Was this for kids or adults?
