What a great video❗👍🏽 I had purchase those dragon eyes off Amazon. Had several ideas how I was going to use them. I was disappointed how huge they were and no idea what the heck I was gonna use them for. THANK YOU , can't wait to make a flask!

If only I could escape from the wheel. You've got it, hand built is the way to go with these. Your textures and impressions really make the flaks.

Ahh, thank you. The wheel is my first love, but handbuilding gives me a lot of options the wheel doesn't have. I really love combining the two. BTW, love your videos too.

Hi. I can hear in your voice that you're still not well. Take care. You're still recovering from your knee surgery. I love these flasks. Another project for me to try. One of my sons would love one. I ordered a dragon eye mold, and I already have some of the scaly stuff, so bring it on. Again, though, take care and heal.

Yes, I agree, but the best medicine for me is the studio. Resting is very dangerous for those who live with me. It's better for me to be busy. 😀

I love the dragon flasks. I make dragon eyes out of glass and nail polish. Do you think that e6000 would glue glass to clay? I suppose the cups would be hand wash only…. Thoughts? Appreciate your videos!

Did you have your stamp for the bottom of your pieces personally made or did you do it yourself. I’m just loving that texture and the eye looks so cool. I made a dragon not long ago it too me so long to do the scales. 😊

I love these flasks! How do you get the cork to fit after the clay shrinks in the kiln?
@hobblecreekpottery
@hobblecreekpottery Жыл бұрын
The great thing about corks is that they are tapered. So they'll fit even after the shrinking

What an awesome tutorial! Thanks soo much. I’d love to know what your table is made of? Is it butcher block or just a piece of wood? My work bench is a Formica top and of course it cleans easily but I would LOVE to be able to work directly on it. Have you ever just cut out the hole from the top before you put it on the body?
@hobblecreekpottery
@hobblecreekpottery Жыл бұрын
The top of my table is a good quality birch plywood. I do oil it with mineral oil a few times a year. I also built the work table to where it's easy to replace the birch if I ever need to. And yes, I've cut the hole once before adding spout and found out that it's much easier to cut the hole after it's all put together so the top doesn't sink.

Hey Tiffany! One more question.. I live in Ontario and im wondering what I can get for these if I sell locally? Can I ask what you have sold them for?
@hobblecreekpottery
@hobblecreekpottery Жыл бұрын
Each area is so different, but I sell flasks from 50 to 65 US. These would sell for 65 because of the 3rd gold luster firing. I hope that helps. Good luck.

Shouldn’t you put clear glaze inside since liquid is going to be put in it?
@hobblecreekpottery
@hobblecreekpottery Жыл бұрын
This is glazed inside, but I used the same glaze as the outside, which was Nebula from Clayscapes.

Why do you cut the hole last? Thanks for the video
@hobblecreekpottery
@hobblecreekpottery Жыл бұрын
It easier to put the spout on with the piece being a closed form. The air trapped inside keeps the shape so it doesn't collapse or sink when you add the spout. I usually let the clay stiffen up a bit before cutting the hole too, just to make sure the top doesn't sink in. I hope that helps.
