They talk about the sound and feel of these cars being so much better than the modern ones. And, as a spectator, i would much rather watch a race with something that sounded like this ferrari, going sideways round corners, with flames spitting out of the exhaust......all of these traits are not making the car go faster, quite the opposite, but as a spectacle they are far superior to their modern equivalent.....in my opinion as a poser, of course.

@@Fastvoice . No . You're wrong . You are thinking of the 512 S . THAT was a 60deg V-12 of 5 litre capacity used in the Le-Mans Car . The BB 512 , used in the Road Cars , was a nominally " Flat " 12 of 5 litre capacity . They went to the Flat layout because the Existing V-12 , that you mentioned , was going to be too Tall in the planned Road Car . Due to " Packaging " issues , like fitting the Exhaust , it was built as a 170deg V , but still classified as a Flat 12 because it DID have a Boxer Layout internally . The BB stands for : Berlinetta Boxer . We are talking about FERRARI here . They have Often times designed the Car first and THEN built the Engine that will fit it .

Yeah, he is still learning and he knows it. He is having fun doing something challenging. He also mentioned that the transmission shifter is difficult and it has to be taken slow. It took me a long time to realize I was being too slow on my downshifts when heel-toeing. He will get there.

Look at a 512's (big...) gearboxe and you will know you have to make "slow" hells&toes... 😏‼️These gearboxes weren't fast, even with a professional driver... The 917 was the same... It isn't a Hewland gearboxe for example... And you have a high torqued engine (V12/ 5L...). Today, lots of "racing drivers" don't make REAL hells&toes but they think they do... It isn't just a fast "push-accelerator" on downshifts... 😉‼️💯🛢️🔥🏁🏎️🤓

@johnrobie9694 Жыл бұрын
@Dethmeister "BB" originally stood for Brigitte Bardot (named by the engineers / designers). Marketing (and Enzo) felt it was inappropriate to name a car after a woman, so they came up with "Berlinetta Boxer" instead. It's a flat 12 cylinder, but it's not a true "boxer" crank shaft. I think they played it fast and loose with the "boxer" term in order to keep the BB reference.
