I'm confused why some commenters claim that water is 'flat'? Water (or just about any liquid) is of course not flat. It is simply the case that water molecules are much freer to move around than solids, so they can overcome friction and move to the center of mass of the Earth. Because Earth is nearly a sphere, water will also form around it. Obviously, locally water may seem flat because the Earth is fairly large, but on a larger scale this is not the case.
@lool8421

"water is flat in a bottle, so water in the oceans has to be flat too"... completely ignoring the fact that water in the bottle is also curved but the difference is so tiny that you would have to measure it in nanometers (also that's under assumption that water doesn't stick to anything that could slightly change its shape
@sander_bouwhuis
@sander_bouwhuis Жыл бұрын
@@lool8421 Indeed. Although surface tension and pollutants in the water also have an effect on the water. These factors are probably also a large factor in how water is (locally) shaped in a small glass. But when you get to larger diameters, then certainly you could measure the curvature of the Earth if you have EXTREMELY accurate measuring devices.

How does the sun shine on the bottom of clouds at sunset?
@Ninvus2
@Ninvus2 Жыл бұрын
Because the sun is shining from a downward angle because it's dropped beneath the horizon from the perspective of the viewer. The sun shining on the bottom of clouds only makes sense on a round earth model, unless you think the sun is closer to the earth than clouds, but then how would a sun that close shine roughly evenly on entire continents? I don't know if you're a flat earther or not so maybe I'm misunderstanding the intent of this question.

What we perceive is a model of reality, shaped by our evolutionary history and the limitations of our senses. For example, insects with compound eyes often interpret their environment as a mosaic of images, possibly without depth perception similar to ours. Birds can perceive Earth’s magnetic field, essentially sensing "directions" humans cannot see. Some interpretations of relativity suggest that all moments (past, present, future) exist simultaneously in a "Block Universe." Our experience of physical reality is a filtered and simplified version of the true complexity of the universe. A hologram on a credit card or a movie screen looks 3D, but it's actually encoded on a flat, 2D surface. Similarly, the "Holographic Principle" suggests that all the information in our 3D universe (including the Earth) could be encoded on a 2D surface and that the third dimension we experience is an illusion created by our brain. Other theories suggest that our world could be a simulation with a simple underlying reality (e.g., 2D data) while producing a complex 3D experience for us.

The Empirical evidence, also known as sensory experience, is the knowledge received by means of the senses, particularly by observation and experimentation. 1) So find ((( one ))) thing, that makes you believe in balls in imaginary space 2) write it down 3) find evidence in the real world that we all can observe that is so 4) congratulations with awareness that we live on the continents surrounded by flat surface of water

"empirical evidence" is not the same as "sensory experience". Empirical evidence can also be gathered by measuring devices, photographs etc. "So find ((( one ))) thing, that makes you believe in balls in imaginary space " Photographs and measurements, as mentioned above. "find evidence in the real world that we all can observe that is so" You can easily measure the curvature of the Earth yourself, e. g. by making some photographs for yourself. "surrounded by flat surface of water" The oceans aren't flat, as is easily shown by ships vanishing _below_ the horizon.

Any targeted debunk videos that use math or totally destroys flat earth will have anywhere from 25% to 50% dislike ratio on any video. I know this from my targeted debunks as well as from other debunk channels as it attracts a large amount of flat earthers. You are 100% correct. The sun doesn't lie. It is seen rising in the east, and it's seen seeing in the west. It never travels south like it is said on a flat earth "model", it is seen going east to west. It's seen straight up overhead at noon. It never strays from this path. Easy, West, never north, but, and especially, never south. You better do more research than read a book that was written over 2000 years ago about science. And I'm a Christian. No matter what configuration you pour water into, once standing, it always finds its level. It is an irrefutable physical reality that can be replicated by anyone. Water is always perfectly level and thus the horizon on water is always perfectly flat, with no Curvature. How many flat HORIZON-tal lines do we have to put together to make a ball..
