@AlsadiusКүн бұрын
If they have, it's probably been on super-curated things like big cruise ships in calm environments, or scheduled flights between big airports. The schedules are way less likely to change there, because they've got much better weather, and much more ability to compensate even when weather goes bad. (Not like there's a modern ILS at the Union Glacier runway to let them make safe instrument-only landings, you know?)

I think that’s part of the issue. Their world is as far as they can see. And if their experience is limited their world is tiny. That’s why explaining the sun is 92 million miles away doesn’t register. You could say a million thousand kajillion and it would mean as much as 92 million miles. Maybe if we use 1au it lowers the barrier to entry for them? I think they can count to 1 and understand 1 as a concept? Maybe?

Exactly! This was not going to put a dent in the sides of their ship. It's a belief system, and belief systems are bulletproof (not bullet resistant). The true believer will adhere to their beliefs no matter what. Even if FlatZoid had been there at the South Pole to actually witness the actual event in real time, he would still reject the whole thing. Reality must conform to his belief. Which is inherently anti-science despite what they want to believe, as science is not a body of knowledge but a way of critically interrogating reality. "I know I said that if the sun behaves this way and it does then the Earth is round" then to "no I was actually wrong back when I made that sound argument that there is now irrefutable evidence for, let's just ignore that observation and how that indicates reality and look at something else" is inherently not science, it is intellectually dishonest. Like Dave said, he accidentally, miraculously had one sound, rational thought that provided a clear falsifiable claim, then retreated back into unfalsifiable statements as soon as the result didn't match his expectation. He thinks his mind has more right over what's real than reality.

Or how ships, buildings, mountains, etc. all disappear bottom up & you can calculate exactly how much for any given distance? Or the fact that the sun couldn’t possibly be as close as FE claims or it would get bigger and smaller perspectively as it got closer & further. Or had you not seen the hundreds of pics & videos taken from space? I can’t imagine how it wouldn’t been abundantly obvious after like 5 minutes of research. Or how about the multiple experiments flat earthers did themselves that proved both the curve & the 15° an hr drift. There’s so much! And nothing points to the earth being flat.

10:30 The flightradar proof is my favorite part of their conspiracy theorizing. The amount of completely unrelated people working together to keep it a secret is simply impossible. Same as the Sydney, Australia to Santiago, Chile flight. Impossible on a flat Earth, yet it goes back and forth 7 times a week (it landed 2 hours ago) and every single person with knowledge of the flight is helping hide the truth?
@ImperrfectStrangerКүн бұрын
I'm sure flight radar can be spoofed, but what can't be spoofed is 10's of thousands of passengers seeing/leaving Sydney at a certain time and 12 (13 or whatever) hours later, seeing Santiago. For a lot lower cost the flerfs in North America can go to Havana, or the same latitude in Mexico, about the June solstice. There they can observe if the globe prediction that the Sun will rise due east travel in a straight line to set due west 12 hours later at 15° per hour with unchanging size and be directly overhead at noon, half way through its passage across the sky. All motions are with respect to a frame of reference of a person on the Earth. It's absolutely worth it. The goal isn't to convince the people making flat earth videos, the goal is to force them to make more and more unreasonable claims so that anyone watching their videos who actually cares about the truth can see for themselves that it isn't found on those channels. There are always people like that. They may be the minority, but that's only because they're inherently the group most likely to permanently leave over time. Minds are being changed, and lives are being saved. This won't end belief in flat earth, but it makes it clear for all the world to see who has their shit together and who is desperate to make excuses and ignore the reality right in front of their eyes. None of that gets done if the people fighting these claims all leave. Then the only voices on the subject are the flat earthers, and no one is forcing them to a standard too high for them to reach. People like Dave are absolutely critical. They teach countless people the finer points of the world we live in, raising their immunity to misinformation. It may never work on everyone, because some people want money, some people want to feel smart or special, and some people have biological issues that make critical thought far more difficult, but that is not the sum total of the Flat Earth movement. And if it ever is, it's only because everyone else has already been saved from it.

They lack that part of the brain that makes them realise that they’re just speculating and, as such, shouldn’t assert anything as fact. They don’t formulate questions and then ask them. They formulate questions then create their own answers, based on their own pre-formed conclusions and biases. People genuinely interested in truth would wait until they can ask. It’s hilarious there’s so much argument about whether you went to Antarctica on the 17th or 18th when some of the fundamental flat earth precepts is that A. Antarctica is a giant ice wall B. No civilian is allowed to go there C. It’s a ring and not a singular location. You’d think going there at all would disprove all 3 of those. But apparently that’s only the case if you went there on a particular day?

21:19 “No way did they sleep all day in Chile on the 18th.” My wife and I flew across the US from Washington to Florida for a cruise last November. Our flight out was changed to a red-eye flight the week before. When we landed we were exhausted. Couldn’t sleep on the plane. We’d been awake for 24 hours. We slept a good part of that day and night in the hotel catching up on the sleep we missed. I can’t imagine how exhausted the TFE group must have been once returning to Chile.

WRT the boot-gate. Dave also mentioned putting hand-warmers in the boot. We use them a lot up north in winter. Simple, slow-speed chemical reaction that generates a bit of heat. Put them in your boots or backs of your gloves, or just your pocket to grab occasionally. So the thick insulation of the boot keeps the heat from the handwarmers inside, nice and toasty warm. But apparently the flat-earther, who 'knows' that boots get cold outside, doesn't want to think about that. But then, what flat-earther likes to think in the first place. lol
@DaveMcKeeganКүн бұрын
To be fair, I don't think I specified the hand warmers in my answer to Flatzoid - but either way, the batteries themselves produce heat, plus it's common knowledge that wearing black clothes on a sunny day, you can feel the heat on your body much more than when you wear white, so the boot itself would still heat up a bit

@@DaveMcKeegan Even if (hypothetically) the boot didnt actually work in keeping the batty warm, how does that change anything? Like the date of your return, it's totally irrelevant. They are focussing on about these meaningless absurdities because they have no answers to the actual findings of the experiments. It's comical to watch.
@mikefochtman716413 сағат бұрын
@ Well maybe I need to go back and watch the livestream again, the one where you lift up the boot from under the table and explain. But I thought that's where I first heard you mention the hand-warmers. If not, sorry about that. Still, his 'expert' that went off yacking about overnight cold boots and all, missed the internal heat-source either way.
