Nothing as beautiful as a dressed out flathead in a hot rod. It’s such an icon. A few tricks and you can make her run cool as a cucumber and fast as hell. Thanks Daniel, you and all your fellow Texans stay safe.🙏🏻

As a poor boy, when my fuel pump quit (8BA), I took a short piece of copper wire and curled it up in the PR cup. that gave me extra length of the pushrod and it started pumping gas again..

Oiling systems are a very interesting topic for you to shed light on..can you use synthetic oil in that flat head engine? Thank you!

The cup that goes over the push rod shattered on my pump. I suspect do to a bent rod or a bad pushing. Checking for a good fit like you are doing is very prudent.

Love these videos, they're fantastic. Please do an oil system topic. I'll use this when my project gets underway. Is there a recognised datum point/measurement when observing the pushrod through the pump mounting aperture (between the studs) with regards measuring the correct rod length/height once raised on the cam? Great work my friend. 🇬🇧

Sorry I'm just learning about fuel pump rods, but when did cars get more than one fuel pump?
@MrDanielSoliz

Cars only have one fuel pump push rod.

So on my car, which is a 36 ford with original 21 stud engine, there is no fuel pump, and just a block off plate in its place, I ran my car the other day for the first time since I got it running again, and gave it the beans some, then i started hearing a ting ting ting ting sound coming from the engine, turns out it was the fuel pump push rod hitting something. I guess when they took the fuel pump off and put on the block off plate and added the electronic fuel pump, they didn't take the rod out. I guess I outta take the rod out? I heard that I could lose oil pressure if I took the rod out completely and don't wanna do that. So, I would likely need to get a fuel pump.
@MrDanielSoliz

There's no oil pressure on the early one's (thin bronze bushing), the later one's(larger steel bushing) do have a small oil hole to oil the push rod.

1949 8ba im running an eletric fuel pump do i need to do anything in there. I have a breather over the hole.
@MrDanielSoliz
@MrDanielSoliz Жыл бұрын
The last 8ba had a small hole in the bushings. Take a small wire and feel inside the bushing and feel for a small hole in the center of it. Only those need a plus or sleeve. If it doesn’t have a small hole in the bushing your ok, doesn’t need anything.

Looking for a plug to plug the bushing hole after I remove the pushrod for an electric pump. Anyone know where I can get one? I dont want to do anything permanent just incase I want to run a mechanical pump in the future
@matthewkepley5631

From my research it’s not needed to plug it, guys that plug it notice no difference in oil pressure vs having no plug
