Loving this build- my 1st car was a 1953 Ford- like this but a different shade of green- I bought when I was 14 and Dad and I rebuilt the flathead and various other repairs- I did all the body work and spot painted as needed-

It is a great looking car, like a shoebox but with a little more style. I saw this one on the Coldwarmotors youtube page, the video series was called "Will it run episode 20, and fell in love. My sons and I drove 8000 Kms round trip to pick it up. My engine seems to be in good shape and I hope to be able to drive ( and stop ) the beastie next spring. We will keep the patina until all the repairs are done then give it a good normal repaint. I intend to drive this car a lot. 😀 Thanks for the comment. 🙋‍♂️

You are making real progress. Oil up them hood hinges well. Guys at the Ford Barn forum tell me they are weak and I believe it. The hinges on my 53 parts car were twisted and broken. New hinges are available but very expensive. Even good used ones are not cheap because they are hard to find.

You are right about the hinges. Actually both of these hinges are damaged. The drivers side is badly bent and the front arm on the passenger side is completely broken. I hope that when I get them on the bench I can figure out some way to reinforce them. Last used pair I saw on Ebay was going for $600 CDN

Great to see you guys returning the Ford back on road. Reproduction parts would be cheap over there in the US compared to freighting to Oz.

Thanks for the comment. The car is actually quite good but everything needs attention. I am keeping as much of the patina I can. Outside will still look rough but underneath it will be mechanically perfect. The only upgrade will be converting to a dual brake system and some pretty good disk brakes for the front. If I want to drive it in traffic it needs to stop like a new car. Funny though I have bought parts from Ozzie land for the beast. Not anything big though

Don't worry about that. It is just one of the Buttcrack Builds boys helping out his father.😨👍
