I appreciate you and the content you post. For 40 years I collected, wrenched, bought and sold everything vintage cars, lived the life you are now. Seven years ago I sold everything I owned and retired to the Philippines and really have not looked back. I miss those days in the shop wrenching and finding a way to make things work. Guy's like you, well sadly there aren't many left now days. 50 years ago every guy could turn a wrench, things are different now. Thanks again, take care and God bless.

Gotta remember that 'back in the day', anything near 100,000 miles on the odo was considered near dead. Now most cars will do 200k with decent maintenance and more with due diligence.

I had a 1970 Ford Galaxy back in the early 80s . 390 and C6 auto. Not much to look at but what a runner it was. High mileage, engine finally went bad so I traded it for a 1960 Chevy 4 door

I'd at first mistaken that 1969 Galaxie 500 XLfor being an LTD due to the retractable headlights. though wasn't aware of any having the GT name. For 1970 the XL was sold as a name on its own without the Galaxie name, also last year for the XL.

That Torina was a sorta special model. I know TASCA FORD in Rhode Island ordered I think over (I heard 500???) called a "halo' version based on the last of the year production run. I do know that the body seams were not as good as the earlier model as the dies were at the end of the production. I worked on a couple (Dad had one) to try to fit the hood/front fenders better. If my memories are correct they were a special to the larger FORD dealers in the summer.

I have to laugh cause the tractor sold for what a used mower would sell for here in alaska. My son has a collection of them with several extra parts including a few running engines. I do believe in my heart that the torino should go back together as its solid enough and not clapped out on the insides. A good frame straightener will fix the left frame rail or both as one is never the case in those types of wrecks. I personally have done a few with great success. A front clip, and some of the incidental parts to get someone motivated into making it a grand torino would be the best scenario

Marti report is a verification of the build sheet from the manufacturer for a specific vehicle, looked up by the serial number. It is similar to a PHS (Pontiac Historical Services) report, or Govier verifying a Mopar Broadcast sheet. Helpful in pinning down exact details of how a car was built, in order to assist in restoring it to exact factory specs
