What a stunningly beautiful restoration on your flathead V8. My dad purchased a new 1951 Ford Customline with 8BA engine that I enjoyed driving and working on during my dating years. I wonder why you're using such thick oil in your engine? I would think a 10W-30 Synthetic would work well. These engines run hot and Synthetic doesn't break down under heat. Love the way it sounds. Thanks for sharing.

What’s the benefit of the wide belt pumps vs. the narrow belted ones? I ask only because I to am rebuilding an 8BA and am gathering parts from the Speedway catalog.

Nice motor I just don't get the idea of a 12 volt change over that part just doesn't seem right
@ninja636393 жыл бұрын
6v is alright for a show car or weekend cruiser. If you want to use your car on a daily or semi daily basis such as I'm doing with my '49 club coupe, 12v makes more sense as it's not as sensitive to a little cable corrosion or a loose ground that you might not catch. It also helps if you need a jump start in the event that your battery dies and your facing up hill, if you need a replacement alternator or light if you're way away from home or of you want a bluetooth device so you can listen to music.

An engine stand like this is the most distractive tool you can use to run a new engine on. It prevents the rings from seating by constant running without a load. Better to use an old tire Gramps Nice work tho!!
