Ultimate Carnage to me was a much more polished game. It was truly a destruction derby racer. Every action had consequences. The AI were also so much better, more distinguished and added a sense of rivalry that Total Insanity failed to execute. For instance, whenever you saw Jack Benton or Sofia Martinez coming behind you in her Canyon, you sometimes actually had to get out of their way. They actually had a unique driving style. Where as Ray Carter was no way near as much as a threat, more of a punching bag. The AI were even distinguishable on the radar; Sally Taylor was pink, Jason Walker black, Katie Jackson red etc. They really hit the nail on the head. Flatout 4 to me isn't a destruction derby racer, it feels very clunky at time, which makes it so much less addictive to play. Sooooo much more potential, but definitely fell short in most areas. I hope they remaster UC one day 👌

Honestly it looks like there's a lot that they replicated well enough.. except the sense of speed or the feel like you actually crashed into something. Which are unfortunately the two main things. I also feel like the car selection is mostly uninteresting. The majority seem wacky for the sake of being wacky. Kind of like what you'd find in Carmageddon and I'm not sure if it really works here. Earlier titles seemed more grounded in reality with the separate classes of wreckers, rally cars and the street class, all three having their own pros and cons and different styles. In the end it feels just that, a replica that isn't even up to par with the 10 year old game. They'd have been better off just spending the resources on getting Ultimate Carnage on Steam with proper multiplayer.

Flatout UC: Better detail, physics, attention to detail and damage model. Despite being a rehash of 2 with some extra content. Flatout 4: Better lighting, new cars to drive despite looking like plastic, soundtrack par with UC but inferior to 1 and 2, more vegetation to some levels despite others look bland even by 2010s standards. Definitely going with Ultimate Carnage anyway.

After bugbear gave the rights to another developer the game lost its identity because the identity of the flatout saga is a driving game with physics that try to be as realistic as possible rewarding the aggressive driving but when the flatout went chaos and destruction with a different theme now more arcade with a lot of game modes that are similar and that do not work because of bad physics combined with bad graphics that made the community angry and now with the release of this new release I can not say it is good but it's not bad either, it's a middle point although the game lacks personality with those gothic characters as if it were twisted metal those vehicles destroyed as if they were abandoned cars and the lack of good physics because they seem like shit just to see how the rider reacts the acrobatics of bouncing in the water and of reaching as high as possible shows how ugly they are without mentioning how boring they are e are the models of the cars and they are all the same, there are no more but they are the same but restored and modified in the different classes

I like the first game the best for racing. Every game after feels more like your floating on the ground and you only get car motion and suspension movements on bigger bumps. I still love all the games, but after replaying all the games on steam, the first game is my favorite. I used to really love ultimate carnage, until I replayed the games. my opinion: flatout uc is great and the definitive crash and race experience made by talented game devs at bugbear, hardcore flatout fans considered this as the golden age for the entirety of the flatout series even until now, for me, it sure does look fun, hectic, crazy, for all i know. flatout 4 is nice, tries hard to look cool, but is criticized by the mass of hardcore flatout fans for not harnessing what flatout uc has made, but i still consider it as an ok one, nothing i dislike or praise, its average.

Ultimate carnage was made in 2007 and yet still had amazing graphics for its age Flatout 4 looks like a cheap mobile knockoff that's got stolen/borrowed assets from ultimate carnage. As one of the comments have said above; No Bugbear=No Flatout

Unpopular Opinion: I think Flatout 4 is great, and I prefer it to the Bugbear Games. I prefer Flatout 4 because: I like it's soundtrack more, I like how fast the boost is and I like the car customization.

I like fo4, even though i was literally raised on fo2. I would say its mediocre but not bad at all. Bad physics is what made it bad for so many. It just doesnt deserve so much hate, and i really wish that devs didnt abandon it and really patched physics. Apart from that, it does feel like flatout.

Flatout: Ultimate Carnage is better, because, like: Soundtrack Nice physics (but not as good as Flatout 2, simplified) Engine sounds (a f**king bucket with bolts sounds like a f**king bucket with bolts) And... Grinder being a car when you try to sleep at 3 am

Sometimes Flatout 4 looks better, and sometimes Flatout UC looks better. But UC had so much better gameplay.
