Ya will never realize how much this video meant to me today . Have been having back problems since Sunday and the shot and two medications are not doing the trick. Still in a hell of a lot of pain but watching today’s adventure took my mind off of my situation and relaxed for the first time . Send me a bill and I will forward it to Anthum ( my insurance company) . Great photography and narratives. Thanks so much for taking us along to the Everglades. Can’t wait for day to , too or two 2.

I grew up fishing this place for one week each year from when I was 8 years old until I was 19.... it's been my life-long dream to actually live there full-time

Here's what I found online about Watson from Watson's place. Pretty crazy. "Western Outlaw. Born in South Carolina, he owned a sugar cane plantation in southwest Florida during the lawless years of the late 19th and early 20th century. In his youth he got into a knife fight, killed a man and fled to the Oklahoma territories, where he left a trail of murders. In 1889, he was suspected of killing the notorious female outlaw Belle Starr, was put on trial, but nothing came of it and he was acquitted. Returning to Florida 1891, he killed a man in Arcadia, over a land dispute allegedly in self-defense. In 1892, he bought a 40 acre parcel at Chatham Bend and became a successful sugar cane farmer. Noted for being ruthless to his help, he had several fugitives living on his property, which would keep order and strong arm other land owners into selling their parcels. He would hire workers for his plantation, then on payday, would gun down his entire crew and dump their bodies in the bay. After years of living in fear of Watson, the local residents of Chokoloskee gunned him down at the Smallwood Store. He also was the subject of writer Peter Matthiessen's books, "Lost Man's River" and "Killing Mister Watson". Bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith"

@rollingthund3r064 жыл бұрын
This might be one of the best fisheries left in the US. Mostly untouched and the amount of redfish and snook is utterly ridiculous compared to anywhere else in Florida. Anyone who gets the opportunity to fish here take it. Once in a lifetime experience.

So that equipment that is there at Watson place is a stationary flywheel engine (I think a Fairbanks Morse "z" 6HP) . For running a water pump and/or a cane mill and possibly a saw for cutting logs. Also the big cast iron bowl is a cane syrup boiler for making syrup and granulated sugar. I own one of those engines. It was my Great Grandfathers. I restored it a couple years ago. We have alot of history here in Leesburg ,Fl and great fishing off the Harris Chain of Lakes. Love your videos JB. Especially your road trips man those are a blast. You should come to Florida more often.

@gavinarcher93894 жыл бұрын
You have got to do it.... been fishing for Redfish, Snook and Speckeled Sea Trout my whole life in the same place this video was shot, this is in the 10,000 Islands the town being Evergaldes City and Chokoloskee Island. Redfish are not only a powerhouse of a fish, but so very tasty too.... they have a light natural sweet flavor to their meat. Snook are fished for just like bass, but are far larger, more powerful, and they have the intelligence to strip your line out far enough to look for a place to wrap the line around to break you off. Sea Trout are very fun in the fact that they and are very aggressive.... they LOVE artificial lures and run in very large groups... so when you get onto the Sea Trout, it can be total action that lasts for hours on end, many times with a fish on with every 1-3 casts
