Thanks so much for the tips & links for the glass stand & Si powder. The stand looks awesome. I just ordered one and some powder.

I found 18” ceramic tiles available at Home Depot for about $5 to $8 each for my flattening duties. In addition I use 120 wet sandpaper in addition to the silicon carbide, this seems to work reasonably well.

Thanks for sharing. Nice find on the glass. I usually go to my local thrift store and get one. They always have leftover glass from furniture. Remember its best to use some type of mask or respirator when using the finer grit silicon carbide for the higher grit stones.

granit , tile or what tombstone is made from is a lot more durable and also cheaper.. Tempered glass works but the price is not worth cause granit stay flat a lot longer and its fraction of the price.. I used mirror at first but it didnt last at all

Hi, im getting system from my local maker ( quality stuff ) with 2 clamps. Im gonna sharpen and put new angle on my stretch 2 from spyderco. As factory bevels are uneven its the same here, one side is thinner than other, even on the one side the grind is not the same width from heel to tip. Would it be possible to get a video from u whenu are fixingthese issues andputting new bevel with for ex 17 deegrees? So far i know that. need to work more on. the thinner side beetween switches and thats it. Cheers!

Do these stones really need to be flattened? I use a naguro stone after every 2-3 sharpenings and there has not been any visible dishing. It would seem the balance between flat stones and wearing the stones is the thing. Given their cost I lean towards stone preservation.

Thank you for this informative video! I did want to ask does the one bag of carbide do all the different grits?
@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL
@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL 7 ай бұрын
You’re welcome! And no it does not. Atleast not the one that I purchased. Im sure you can buy them in a bundle with the different grits but since I only use a few specific grits its better to just buy the ones I need. Silicone carbide wet sandpaper also works in a pinch but the loose carbide seems to work better for the purpose of flattening or lapping!

Informative info bro. I wish my Poltava metallic bonded CBN were this easy. They have to be etched. Not sure how to tackle it sinse they are mounted to aluminum blanks. I was told not to use SIC because of potentially embedding the SIC into the softer copper bond. I use your method in your video for my edge pro resin bonded diamonds. Keep up your content. Very nice channel.

Thank you brother and I was told ferric chloride for etching metallic bonded plates but I have never tried it!

That silicon carbide is very hard stuff, and it breaks down into sharp shards that continue to cut. You'll probably be able to dry out the silicon carbide you use when you're done lapping, and reuse it several times.

Hey man love the content and the results on your edges are sweet! I was wondering if you’ve had any experience with Nagura stones for Venev resin bonded diamond stones?
@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL
@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL 8 ай бұрын
Thanks brother and I do not but I don’t think they would be very effective on the new super high hardness blade steels. The venev resin bonded cbn leave me with no desire to use anything else. One of those things you’d probably have to try for yourself and see what works for you but my advice would be to go with what I know works great for certain. I wouldn’t want to suggest something I’m not positive about!

Natural stone is for the Venev stones not the knife. I use them with bar keepers friend to remove swarth from stones

Just don't hit the edge of the glass ,it will explode . Not up and down but wider and longer with small peices. Believe me it happened.
