Careful Marty!!!! 🤫My wife almost heard you say that using flatwounds to change the tone is a lot cheaper that buying a new guitar. 😅

I’ve been riding the flat wound guitar strings train for a while now, been under the spell of jazz but that’s not the only reason, I just get irked by the string noise! There is flatwounds that come in all shapes and sizes, anything to fit your style!! It’s not just for jazz it’s a comfortable, slightly mellower experience on the fingers

Hey Marty! I hope this message finds you well. I'm currently a senior in high school, and I've been immersed in playing the guitar for several months now. Our choir is gearing up for the annual spring show, and this year's theme revolves around Broadway. The exciting part is that we get to choose our own songs, as long as they belong to the Broadway repertoire. Id love to perform Whatsername by Green day, both singing and playing it on the guitar. But since I absolutely suck at reading tabs even though they're as simple as it gets lol, Id be incredibly grateful if you would be able to make a tutorial on how to play it since you're the best at making tutorials on songs and make things very simple. Thank you for taking your time to read this and I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day 🙂

I use flatwounds on my semi-acoustic Ibanez, and on one of my solid body electrics. I use semi flats, on my acoustic electric, and my 12. The other solid body, has pure nickel.

Hey Marty, thank for the battle of the Flatwoumd vs Roundwound strings.Great video.

The main reason for flat wounds is to get rid of the squeak but I was somewhat surprised you did not include D’addario half rounds(?) - also flat wounds are terrific for slide guitar but sometimes if you want a little bit of growl it is good to replace the low E string with a round wound - that’s my two cents

Could you do an easy lesson on "On the bright side" by never shout never? I can't find a single tutorial on the Internet at all. And if anyone would do it for a long time fan, its you. Thanks Marty!

I keep thinking of trying some flat wounds if I can find a proper acoustic set. Especially if they'll save wear on my FrerFboard!

Get outta my head Marty. I was just thinking about this. I was wondering if flat wound would slide over the nut better on my Strat to help with tuning stability?

I don't know if you're aware of this or not but there's only two factories in the entire world that make instrument strings. But D Addario's are some fine strings. They're in my top three brands of all time. It looks like you had some fun checking out the place. I prefer Nichol round strings, but they sell great Nichol round strings too.

Has anybody used chrome flatwounds on a 12 string? I have a 12 string Danelectro that I believe would make awesome tones with the pickup combo and flatwounds. If so, what brand, D’Addario doesn’t make the chrome for a 12 string electric.
@ohtravo9978 ай бұрын
I believe the Beatles used to do it, but I haven’t been able to find a solid PACK for 12 strings, I have seen some KZbin videos on the subject where a fellow had the same question you had. He bought a normal flatwound set for strings then found a way to get ahold of each doubled string (also flatwound)

Hey Marty would it be possible for you to do a tutorial on how to play Sleeping in the Blacktop by Colter Wall?

Just can’t get into flatwound strings Yeah, I get that some people really like them. They don’t work for what I do, and they feel weird. And I play fretless bass, but don’t have flatwound strings But hey that’s me. I do like stainless steel wound roundwound strings on my fretted bass, but not sure if the stainless steel would be harder on the board of the fretless But I have used flatwounds on my bass before, and have played a variety of guitars with flatwound strings It all depends on what you’re looking for. It’s great to have options because we don’t all play the same thing.

Chromes and some other I forget are good, but Gibson flatwounds are the only ones that are really flat. Remember Gibson? They gave you a custom guitar? Also the shape of the inner cores on some flatwound strings vary. Not all of the cores are exactly round.
@MartyMusic8 ай бұрын
guess who makes those Gibson strings? Not Gibson, it's Daddario. So whoops on that one

Splains it, I have Gibson on one and addarios on the other both flatwound. Thanks Marty.@@MartyMusic
