The corn in this video was soaked for 24hrs prior to cooking. If you don't soak first, the cooking time will take MUCH longer than shown here. You should try one jar with garlic powder, strong scent. Carp & catfish love it. My brother caught a 40-45lb carp years ago, accidentally, on of all things a spinnerbait. The lure had Bang Garlic Spray attractant put on it right before casting it. We didn't have a net since we were just fishing for bass and pike. Never in a million years did we expect a monster carp on the line. I had to reach over the edge of the boat and bear hug it to bring it in. Anyhow, ever since then I've been sold on garlic scent.

In South Africa, we use all sorts of “flavors”. My favorite is Vicks vapor rub “flavor” corn and mint.

I've been watching your channel for sometime now. I'm truly envious how well you do carp fishing. I use the same pack baits that you generally use (oats, sweet feed, corn, flavors, same flavored feed corn and tiger nut mixes, same boilie recipes and more often than not get skunked or only catch a horn pout or two. There's carp in the two rivers that run through my city, but I sure have struggled to catch any. I use kast king 5000 bait runner reels, I have a few of the same poles that you have, I use pretty much the same method feeder set up, and about the only thing I see different is I'm not good at tying hair rigs with short leaders yet, so still relying on pre made hair rigs which have a much longer leader than your hair rig leaders that you make.It's been frustrating to say the least. I've probably fished 40 hours this past week targetting carp exclusively and yet to even get a bite, and I've been spodding with boiled pigeon feed and feild corn to try to draw them in as well. You and a few other carp fisherman inspired me to start carp fishing and I'm boound and determined to achieve some level of success carp fishing, but I must admit I'm already getting rther discouraged.

My recommendation is to focus your efforts on finding the fish. You can have the best bait, rigs, and gear but if there are no fish in the places you're fishing, you'll never catch any. In rivers, fishing in the main current is no good. The fish will likely be in slack water or eddys. Places where there is reduced current like behind a wing dam, rock pile, or brush pile. Also, anywhere a creek or stream empties into the main river can be a good place to try. Trying different times of day can make a difference too. If you've been fishing in the afternoon, try morning instead. Hope that gives you some ideas. Good luck!

He’s got some envious locations. He has a good video on how he ties hair rigs. As soon as I’m done with my Amazon hair rigs I’m going to try his method.

I feel your frustration! I I am in my 7th in a row sessions being skunked. New season for me start in June here in Chicago. I have learned that catching nothing no matter what you try is part of carping. My slogan is be mentally prepared to be skunked, but always keep trying. Enjoy nature while you fish. When guys online show their trophy carp, you do not know how many hours or days it took to catch them. Hang in there, you will have a break through!

Have you experimented with/used the different carp flavor juices on the market? Some of them have alcohol in them for preserving I believe. So I was thinking of trying a couple with the same method you use in this video since I can get them fairly cheap.

I prepared maize years ago and stored it in an air tight container. I plan on trying carp fishing again. When I opened the bucket the maize looks fine but it is hard since it sat so long. Can I use it like this or do I need to do something to soften it up again? I'd appreciate your advice! Dan

@@OutsidewithTom that's a great idea.. Only thing I'm not sure of .. The container doesn't say to refrigerate after opening.. I've kept them in a cool room but they dont seem to smell quite the same... I bought like 4 containers... I dodnt realise how many would come in a container.. I'm not sure oj my lifetime I can use them all

good info Tom. I haven't used feed corn. I assume you must boil it in order to use it even in the packbait right? The more I get into Carp fishing, the more money I would save using field corn I imagine. Thanks.
@OutsidewithTom
@OutsidewithTom 3 жыл бұрын
Yep, it's super cheap and needs to be re-hydrated to be used. The thing I like the most is that it doesn't get stolen by panfish all the time like what happens with canned corn.

I'm not into the bright colored baits, just a personal preference. Whether or not the color helps at all is debatable. One thing I am 100% sure of is that it will stain your hands. 😀

If the corn hasn't been soaked for a day or two first, it will take a long time to cook. Probably more like 3-4 hrs or more. Some people like to use a pressure cooker and get the same result in about 45min. Good luck!
