here's a piece of advice, fellow fishermen; 1. soak it up for 48 hours( it will take less time to cook) 3. cook it so that the water is barely boiling, for about 45 min. (the slower you cook it the better your bait will be) 2. when you want to cook it, dispose of that water you were soaking your corn in, wash your corn and use clean water for cooking ( corn has its acid, and it's strong enough to kill a fish, and you can actually see that acid in your video...white color, bubbles all around etc... that's the main reason why we cook corn, to remove the acid, not to make it soft so you can hook it. Nice video and amazing catch! keep up the good work, greeting from Bosnia!

I totally agree. Maize are carp fishers best friend when it comes to price. Have you ever tried mixing it with soaked maize flakes, hemp seeds, hemp oil(just a few spoons) and tigernuts? This is really one of my favorite baits - i rarely feed with boilies anymore, ever since i tried this combo. Thanks again for your videos Mark. I know i am replying on older messages, but I just got into carp fishing again last year, and therefore im looking for all inspiration sources. You do an amazing thing for the carp community Mark, keep up the flawless work. Carp love from Denmark!
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
thanks rune, yes i've mixed maize and hemp, it's a brilliant combination, tiger nuts i like to mix with groats, those two make a great combination too. i tend not to add anything else, whatever liquids you add to particles you have to buy them so it pushes the price up, maize, tigers and hemp etc work brilliantly on their own so my motto is why push the price up and add stuff you don't really need?. cheers mate, i'm glad you're getting value from my channel👍
@runerune-_-97273 жыл бұрын
@@MarkCarp you are so right Mark! Carp angling can get expensive enough as it is haha. So i try with No hemp oil next time. It is expensive, I agree, and maybe i have putten too much value into the product, when really its the other ingredients making the trick! :) cheers, have a wonderful day!
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
@@runerune-_-9727 thanks rune, you too, if you do ever want hemp oil again look for it in the supermarket, it's cheaper than paying a bait company👍

Hi great vlog I just been on eBay and had a look there’s top flight mixed pigeon conditioner how would you cook it thanks
@MarkCarp4 жыл бұрын
hi david, i've done a video on pigeon conditioner, you've 2 options mate, the coolbox method that i've covered or boiling, the coolbox is convenient but i don't think it fully brings out the flavour, the best option is to soak for 24hrs and boil in an open pan for 20 minutes then let it cool down👍

Is there a way to make them taste like sweet corn? I've done this and the fish don't bite but when I use store bought sweet corn they bite like they"ve never ate before
@MarkCarp Жыл бұрын
no eddy you can't, apart from them both being yellow they are completely different crops. maize is much harder than sweetcorn so you may get less bites with it.

I’ve just done some maize loads split loads whole are the whole ones ok still hard ?
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
yes mate, maize is naturally quite hard, if you've a good amount of split and whole grains then you've done it right, pick a few whole grains for hookbaits and use the rest as feed👍

@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
@@RMinkjunkie no mate 20 mins max is all you need for maize, there's a video on preparing maple peas on this channel and they are the ones you need to squish in your fingers, maize is quite hard and what you've done is ok, if anything you've overcooked but that's ok, it won't have done any harm, just split a few more grains👍

Hi mate, me again! Think ive seen all of your vids on preparing now😃 But one question, well 2....... Once its prepared how long can you keep it for and do you keep it in the water or drain off the water. Same question applies for the maple peas?
@MarkCarp5 жыл бұрын
hi rob, I use it fresh the next day. I don't tend to keep it beyond my session, what I don't use goes in the lake when I leave so they get to eat some for free. Same goes for maple peas. You can freeze particles but i'm not a fan, the maize will be ok frozen but the maple peas will go soft and mushy, as a rule the only particle I freeze these days is hemp...ps, more prep vids to come, there are quite a few baits I haven't covered yet...pps keep them in the same water, never drain them off and they'll keep for a week or two although they will start to ferment and whiff a bit, they still work though, in fact some people think they are better the longer you leave them but not me, fresh is best for me👍

Where can u buy the bags from that u use ,
@MarkCarp4 жыл бұрын
hi mark, I get mine from a place called larton livery which is in frankby in Wirral if you're local to me, they are a livery/store and sell all kinds of stuff related to horses and animals. If you have a livery or seed merchant locally they are an ideal place to buy from, if you don't then try any of these, just put their names into google and check out their websites, marriages of chelmsford, haiths birdfoods, hinders of Swindon, Cheshire particles or monster particles, they all sell to the carp market👍

Do you ever add anything it it like betaine, also how long does it last before it goes off?
@MarkCarp8 жыл бұрын
+TheWesterndevon I personally never add anything to mine mate, I consider it a cheap bait and I like to keep it that way. If I was going to add anything I'd want to alter the taste myself so I'd add either a little salt or sugar or a sweetener called talin. It takes quite a while to go off, I've used it up to a few weeks old but you can freeze what you don't use if you want to.

Would you use this bait in winter for carp? I got told the carp don't digest it as easy in winter. What do you think? Cheers
@MarkCarp9 жыл бұрын
+mike bowers yes mike, absolutely I'd use maize in winter, its a high carb bait and carp can very easily digest it in cold temperatures. During the winter months professional fish farmers only feed their fish on a high carb diet like maize. My own syndicate swaps from pellets to maize for supplementary feeding around November time and it's fed to the carp until the water warms up again in spring. I've used it for winter campaigns in the past and its a top, top winter bait. Use it on it's own or mixed with some hemp, the hemp/maize combo is a belter any time but especially through the winter, it's not so good if you have a lot of bream in your water though!..lol
@mikebowers98849 жыл бұрын
+Mark “North West” Carp brilliant mate I will definitely be using it this winter then. Like you say it's a lot cheaper than a boiles. There is a big lake near me which I struggle on as its full of crayfish. I wonder if they would ignore the maize or just eat it like they do everything else lol. Cheers for you help 👍🏼
@MarkCarp9 жыл бұрын
+mike bowers none of my waters have crays in mike so I've never experienced them myself, I'd say they'd eat the maize like everything else but you can use the enterprise fake stuff or mesh up your hookbaits same as you would if you were using boilies?. If you have problems with crays check out fox arma mesh, it will work for maize as well as for boilies.

i buy 5 kilo of maize. i cook it 30 minits and its still hard . howw ????
@MarkCarp9 жыл бұрын
+mark KBS did you leave the maize to soak for 24hrs first mark?, if so I wouldn't worry mate, maize doesn't soften a lot after boiling, it still stays pretty hard. The way to check its done is to look at how many of the grains have split open after boiling, there should be quite a few grains spit open, if none are split you need to boil a bit longer, if half or more are split you've probably boiled it a bit too much, anywhere in between is pretty much ok.
@csucujo4 жыл бұрын
Just buy a can of sweet corn from Walmart - same thing and needs no prep.
@MarkCarp4 жыл бұрын
sweetcorn and maize are two different crops and different baits mate, the only thing they have in common is that they're both yellow and they both catch fish. I prefer maize, its slightly bigger and a lot harder so it resists the attention of small fish better then sweetcorn does, it lasts longer on the hook too👍🎣
