That Charger emblem across the taillights is just mint. Looking at the fastback makes me remember how hyped everyone was for this car @ Daytona that year. They even did a side by side comparison mid race of the street version and racing version. I'm sure it was pushed for by the Chrysler Corp.

I think you’re referring to the 1968-1969 Fairlane/Torino fastbacks. The 1968 Charger was a complete redesign. No fastback Chargers for 1968-1969. 1969 Daytonas were the only exception.

A friend of my older brother owned two of these in a row in the early seventies. The first was red with a black interior and a 318. The second was the opposite color combination, black with a red interior and a 383, both had automatics. The red one was slightly cleaner, but both were in nice condition. The black 383 Charger was the first really fast car that I was ever in, it left a lasting impression. He and his new wife had their first baby on the way, and the first energy crisis hit. They panicked (like many) and traded in the Charger for a 1966 Corvair at a local car lot. That lot was buried in clean muscle cars and luxury cars for a while that year. Fifty-one years ago, wow.

My younger kid brother, had a 66, kind of a gold color with white interior .... 383ci automatic. That thing was FAST. He was second owner, buying it in 1970 ... and became a street racer, here in Phoenix, and I don't know if he ever lost a race. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with epilepsy ... having a seizure while driving, and took out a concrete bus bench with that car. Two hours later the bench would have been filled and surrounded by high school kids going home from school ... no one there, just the bench, and about 10' of chain link fence.

Love the car, but one thing i don't like is the fact that thing is riding so high, it's almost like it's on a 4X4 truck chassis. I understand that high-jackers was something you'd do in the day, but for this car it just looks odd. But apart from that, absolutely gorgeous car, my family owns a '69 Plymouth Roadrunner, so I have a deep love for these B body Mopars!
