Whith this technique you create more risks than avoiding them. There are ares inside the axle that are not welded. I would weld only 2 Parts (left and right) and these parts are conically formed (like spears). Every iron part of the axle has to be 100 % bound with another. This is imo a suicide axle. Maybe i am wrong, but i dont´believe.

If the truck can twist and snap a forged part then a bit of metal welded on ( a bit, no penetration ) doesn't stand a chance, just making it look like it's fixed doesn't mean it is, I'm surprised they even bother wasting their time on these type of repair, unless, it's just to limp the truck empty to get a new part. It would be good to know the full story on these things.

I usually make a deep V groove and then weld such broken axle driveshaft , a light surface weld won’t last long.

The way he joined all pieces together might work in slow moving low torque application. But in a big truck, there is a tremendous amount of torque on the axle. I don’t think would last long . But it might ? Because the way he recut the spline, doubtful that it ever go into the spider gears !!! But I give this an A for effort

That's the most idiotic way of mending severed machine parts especially if they are to spin. The outer portion was welded but still, there were gaps deep into the core of the shaft. A better way of doing this is to shape both tips like cones at 60 degrees (the sharper the tips, the better). Then position them so that both tips meet and weld them from the core, carefully filling up the gap until the weld is a bit bigger than the radius of the shaft. Then grind and smoothen up the welded portion.

First time I saw this technique, I don’t think is reliable, it looks that the welding area is kind of weak, the way I see it, that repair is not going to last long.

نسبت به کارهای دیگر که بنده در کلیپ های پاکستانی دیده ام ، بسیار بسیار بهتر است اما اگر قرار باشد این محور زیر یک کامیون جاگذاری شود ، بعید بنظر می‌رسد که کارایی داشته باشد چراکه کی انحراف و اندکی عدم اتصال در دو بخش جوش خورده به هم ، که کم هم نیست ، موجب پیچش و شکستگی مجدد محور خواهد شد. سوال میلیون دلاری این که ، مگر نمیشه این محور رو نو از بازار تهیه کرد؟

What a lot of you guys in the state don’t understand is these people in Pakistan don’t have the option of always buying new parts when something breaks. They have to repair it to the best of their ability much like our ancestors did. These machinists are much like our early blacksmiths we’re. Will it last forever, no . Will it last until they can do better, absolutely. We are spoiled in the states being able to buy good quality parts. Try buying some of this Chinese made crap and see how long it last.

I’ve made repairs like this on dirt track cars just to last until new parts came in. We finally replaced them them with the new parts after the season ended getting prepared for the upcoming season and kept the old parts for temporary repairs if needed.
