It was exactly as it supposed to be to give heimdall the chance to read Kratos’s head for the 1st time and see the monster inside, during all the fight heimdall was not able to read him because of Kratos ability to use the absolute focus and concentration on his opponent that was why he should die like that to say his final line. “Monster” Thanks for watching

Heimdell is the representation of, "Just because you see it coming, doesn't mean you can stop it." At first he was able to avoid all of Kratos's attacks, but Kratos has dealt with entities that were far faster, stronger, and unpredictable. if Heimdell can see all of Kratos's moves, then Kratos can predict how Heimdell will react.

Don’t forget how Heimdall says “what’s going on in that empty head of yours”. Kratos training as a Spartan and centuries of battles taught him to clear his mind while fighting and combat foes on instinct alone. Heimdall literally couldn’t read Kratos because 1) Heimdall was fighting in a blind rage. And 2) Kratos was abstract of all thought.
