I’m going to stick my neck out here! I was horrified when the beautiful hebe was cut back And the other plants too! The bay tree was so beautiful too! Right! This gardener has ranted but I wish you And your Dad and all the family A wonderful Christmas and new year!

The fatsia japonica got a hammering too... I must admit i almost switched off witnessing those plants get mutilated but i had to remind myself that many people have no interest in gardening and I hope the bay tree recovers...

I have to agree, watching these type of channels, loads just cut stuff without even considering that it was better before and you can't or should just mutilate plants to show a concrete edge. Trimming yes, but this is too much. I get that many times they do it for people that really can't look after their plants but this obviously wasn't the case. Sad.

Oh, be still my heart, your dad is the first person I have seen who actually trims a bush correctly, from the bottom up!!! I was very very happy to see that! I loved his elf outfit. Give the saw to him! And never cut more than a third of a tree at a time. So sorry, Ben, you can clean driveways any time, but I will do the pruning myself! So kind of you to give this gift to your aunt!

Yeah, went a bit heavy on the Bay Tree. The Lavender you ripped out near the gate might have recovered and be careful pruning Euphorbia ( 2.34 ) it releases a milky sap that will sting if you get it in your eyes. Merry Xmas/New Year to all. 🍻

The first shrub that had to be cut back from the wall...where I also cringed...I had to do the same to the identical shrub at my house in May...I thought it was a goner, but here it is June and it's new growth is full and beautiful. Can't speak for the tree, but it will probably have all new growth and be manageable.

Amazing transformation for your Auntie, have the driveway cleared and more room for vehicles. Then pressure washed to see it full of colours. I hope the neighbours didn’t mind you hacking down their shrubs. The fatsia japonica and the hebe were in the neighbours garden. I’d also also warn your dad that the euphorbia he was cutting down releases a sap, which is very poisonous. You really need to take more care on the plant side of things. Be careful!! I tend to read the comments before watching and I thought this was going to be real bad in regards to the plants. That was very overgrown and hadn't been looked after, also you have the right to remove any of the neighbours plants in your yard, having said that, they will all grow back and some would have very much appreciated the cut.
