I remember sneaking into a private beach in Malibu and body surfing the waves with my friends. A man, his wife, daughter, and dog came down from the houses above. We knew we didnt belong there and I got a little apprehensive when this man started walking up to us. He walked up to our makeshift driftwood hut and asked, "did you guys make a fire out here last night?" I said,"No" as I shivered from the cold ocean I'd just left. He saw me shivering and said, "don't worry man im not trying to get you in trouble." I laughed and said, "thanks... This beach is beautiful." He smiled that famous gap toothed smile and all of a sudden I realized who he was. Looking out over the ocean, he responded, "I know." And went to join his family again. The man had such a deeply peaceful presence, I'll never forget it

Flea is so honest, its like he is impervious to embarassment and is willing to show everyone how much of a toll this situation takes, and how emotional he gets is both inspiring and a little confusing to me. He appears to value his relationship with anthony as strongly as i view my relationship with my spouse...

It had to do with Patton's work on Faith No More (listen to Epic). I enjoy RHCP but I read Scar Tissue and if that's any indication as to who Kiedis truly was/is.. phew. Anthony Kiedis lunged at Faith No More's Southern California rap rock funk genre. Anthony claiming that he single handedly pioneered this experimental wave of music that had already been sweeping throughout California at the time. Mike Patton was relatively chill about the whole "feud". The beauty of this being Kiedis was ushered onto the scene by George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic, Kiedis didn't invent that genre, George Clinton did 🤣. Ohhh Anthony, you're just upset because Patton can beat you to a 6th octave. Seriously, Mike Patton is one of the most impressive vocalists in the music industry, fact - I see why Kiedis felt threatened.

@Ricky Spanish Odd that you mention it, I don't think Mike Patton uses or even needs drugs for his creative process. Where most of Kiedis work was either written under or about the bridge downown, Mike's work is wholly of his own lucid state of mind. It's nice to see a musician writing a song about a drug rather than a drug using a musician to write a song. Yeah, If I remember correctly Patton isn't known for being a user much less IV dope.

Flea brought him along for a ride that he should've been off many times, and they both have john frusciante to thank for EVERYTHING they have. He changed that bands course to Super stardom twice and without him they would be that band that was kinda funky people saw in l.a in 88
