I remember sneaking into a private beach in Malibu and body surfing the waves with my friends. A man, his wife, daughter, and dog came down from the houses above. We knew we didnt belong there and I got a little apprehensive when this man started walking up to us. He walked up to our makeshift driftwood hut and asked, "did you guys make a fire out here last night?" I said,"No" as I shivered from the cold ocean I'd just left. He saw me shivering and said, "don't worry man im not trying to get you in trouble." I laughed and said, "thanks... This beach is beautiful." He smiled that famous gap toothed smile and all of a sudden I realized who he was. Looking out over the ocean, he responded, "I know." And went to join his family again. The man had such a deeply peaceful presence, I'll never forget it.

When he says he could feel again after he quit doing drugs it really resonates with me. Saying that “sometimes it felt like a river of pain” makes sense too but it’s better to feel pain than nothing at all. At a certain point it feels better to finally confront those painful feelings head on and open your eyes and let those feelings motivate you to change what’s been making you unhappy. If you’ve numbed yourself with drugs until you don’t enjoy them anymore getting to be sober and feel emotions again is the new high.

He was very nice and when I told him I was not going to charge him for stack parking his car, he said “Are you sure? You won’t get in trouble or anything?” I told him it was fine and I was happy to hook him up. Then he said, “It’s my birthday today.” I told him happy birthday and he & his friend went about their business in town. When he returned for his car, he asked me where the the closest 101 entrance was. I told him and wished him a good day. I was pretty stoked to meet him because I grew up listening to the music he and the Peppers made! Hope to meet him again one day, chill guy.

From musician to musician, this is just truly awesome. I remember being 15 years old, bought the Flea bass VHC lesson tape, learned how to slap bass guitar. So funny how we all learn from each other. Those magic moments that Flea talked about, how I can relate with that so much. It’s the reason why I’m still a musician today. Remembering that first magic moment being accepted into a band. No feeling like it!!! Lov u man!!! Will def read the book 👊🏼

The universe gives us the ones we need and the ones we deserve. Flea wears his humility on his sleeve, a defining quality. I'm glad he's found his best friend and his love. Some of us end up on a long journey until we are finally ready to receive that and own it properly.

One of the many highlights for me in this one short video is him twiddling his fingers and showing off his wedding ring like a giddy new bride. I love how excited, proud, and happy he is to be married and to be in love. Even through watching the RHCPs from my childhood, Flea has somehow always come off as very childlike and pure to me. I honestly..... Scarily..... Didn't expect it. But I'm *so* happy to see him so happy and healthy and doing so well for himself.
