YES! I love how you said that these landing challenges don't promote good flying! I complain about that in every landing challenge myself!! (I get especially annoyed when I do a great short-field grass landing with a crazy crosswind...which, if done realistically, would of course be a terrible score in one of these landing challenges due to a variety of reasons/variables.)

These landing challenges are one of the best ideas to bring in newbies. I got my boss into flight simulation bc I talked about MSFS 2020 so much in the office. He just told me he ordered a flight stick and rudder pedals online so he and his son could get better scores on the landing challenges. Absolutely brilliant!

But with full flaps you slow down quickly so a bit of power is necessary. The best would be to fly fast enough and then glide, but it's difficult to find the right spot to know at exactly what speed to be to do that. Adding power at the end moves you off center a bit... *But now I am only 6th ! I do deserve a few lashes!!* The first one, PilotEni has 1,994,000, which is impressive considering the maximum is 2,000,000 [ (5000 + 5000) * 200 = 2,000,000 ]. If you divide his score by 200 (smoothness) you get an integer of 9970, meaning he did 200 points for smoothness, and this equates to ~ -1 fpm, and he was maybe 2 feet maximum of centerline and 3 feet too early or too late...

Well personally I consider any score above 1,000,000 to be a job well done. So you pretty much nailed the first attempt as far as I’m concerned lol. I was surprised with the score on your second attempt though. I thought it deserved a bit more.

I am sure others will have said this , But the Problem with all the landing challenges is they Reward you with points for what in reality is a really crappy landing , I.E , soft in , Too Low , Too Slow stalls etc and not maintaining landing roll to taxi, also the high scorers are using AI controls to programs a high score landing

I just take these landing challanges as a mini game, they are not indicative of what a good landing is. after taking that into consideration they are a FUN thing to do.

Has any sim ever managed to avoid those repeating water textures? Such an immersion breaker (if you'll forgive the expression!).

In msfs the water textures are way better, than in other ones! But it depends also on your graphics quality settings!

You can assign the reverser to a button in the settings. I'm pretty sure, he did that!

@@musefan12345 I can choose my aircraft type and don't need another type forced on me.I have done a couple by simply finding out where they are,and doing it myself.No scores of course but at least I get to use an aircraft of my choosing.........................

@@russellharris5072 well then, problem solved. The reason they “force” a certain aircraft o you is because many people would probably just stick to their comfort zone. I understand the point you’re making, but I’m just giving you a very possible reason toward Asobo’s reasoning. Now that the landing challenges have multiplayer enabled, can you imagine trying to do a challenge with a few friends on a small grass strip in a small Cessna while a load of immature kids are trolling you in a 747s? There’s a logic behind Asobo’s stance, even if you don’t agree with it
