The speaker’s dissertations on Justification and Sanctification are exemplary. “Your confidence is in your justification-which is perfect-not in your sanctification-which is imperfect”... a sanctification which is only perfected (made perfect) upon our death.

Yes Des was very clearly Protestant in his understanding of Justification and Sanctification.

Question: Gal 4:13,16 Would “the righteousness of faith” include all those of Heb11 ? Would “of the faith of Abraham” also include all those mentioned in Heb11 ? Including those referred to in Heb11:3

Faith in Hebrews 11 is always linked to God's activity. it results in remarkable acts by those who believed in God's activity,

Yeah, be nice to question Des. He’s reading out of the RSV. Gal 6:16 warrants reading from other respected versions. The reader must decide how those individuals qualified by “this rule” applies to the Israel of God. NB-if Des is right, it will be the single instance in all of scripture where Israel = the Church. Everywhere else saying Israel = Israel.

Just a note... I have great respect for Des Ford. His dissertations on Romans are as good as it comes.

It is important to understand the word translated Church Ecclesia (or Ekklesia) simply means Assembly. In Paul's day it is made up of Jew and Gentile God fearers. Meeting most often in Synagogues where available. places of Prayer when not, or homes. In one recorded case because of long lasting opposition in the Synagogue they moved meeting to a municipal building daily. So the idea of separating Church and Israel that is so popular today has little scriptural basis. The assemblies were not exclusively Gentile in Paul's day.

@@fleetwd1 We’ll differ on the point of Israel and the Church. The Heb11 faithful looked for the same heavenly city as preached by Paul & Co-so one body for Jew and Gentile. However, here’s where we’ll differ: The Abrahamic Covenant is yet unfulfilled...the recipients of the promise inheriting a Land with definitive borders. The Davidic Covenant is also unfulfilled...with David’s greater Son ruling from Jerusalem over a people in a Land. And of course the New Covenant promised to Israel which is detailed in Jer 31:31 Ezek 36:22-28; Isa 59:20 If the promises are spiritualised then the literal fulfilment can be explained away. It boils down to hermeneutics... hence the title of the video upload. Thanks again for the uploads. Much appreciated.

A little confused, When Paul talked about Decons, leaders etc.. in the Church, is Paul speaking against the Gospel?. I am also Concerned we have done away with the 12 Disciples who were to out to the Jews and only see Paul as the only disciple. He was for non Jews and the others were for Jews, Yet the majority of NT is Paul's mission.and we some how think Pauls is the only mission that counts.

The disciples are not really all that important anymore. They are important as symbols, but the modern church need not worry about whether Paul or the 12 were more important or relevant. Paul is talked about more because he wrote the majority of the NT books.
