I used to sing this at the top of my lungs to my husband Damon. 15 years of marriage and 4 kids later he was killed on his way to work one day 4 days after Christmas. Now I sing it to my children and miss the man we built our life around. Learning to continue on without you is the hardest. Damon, the children are getting older....RIP forever 37

I listened to this as a child. Then a teenager. Young mother. Single mother. Mother to Grade schoolers, preteens, teenagers, and then in an empty nester. I just became a grandmother two weeks ago. This song has meant something different for each stage of my life. Time has made me older and the mirror is cracking. How did this happen? Even children get older…..

It took me a long to deal with my brother passing. I'm not saying it gets easier, but you find way to cope. I eventually told myself I needed help. I started talking to my friends and family about how I was feeling and how hurt I was. It can be hard to let those feelings out. It's ok to feel bad, it's ok to be angry. It's because you care. There's nothing anyone can say or do to take away your pain. If you need to cry then do it. Holding in the pain makes it worse. I know. I did that for years. Be there for your mom, this is when she needs you the most. It's ok to still be a kid, don't give up hope :)

This was one of my son's favourite songs even though it came out when I was young. His father and I took him to see Fleetwood Mac in Perth Australia and he loved it. He suffered from severe depression and we lost him in August 21. We played this at his funeral and it reminds me of his dad half carrying him out of the concert as he'd suffered nerve damage in one of his attempts to end his life. We fought valiantly to keep him in this world but it caught us by surprise when he was in a great place. He died in his sleep. I think he was too pure and good for this world. My heart is broken. This song was played at his funeral and it was the hardest time. I miss him every day.

"Well, I've been afraid of changing, 'cause I built my life around you, But time makes you bolder, Children get older, And I'm getting older too." Stevie Nicks was only 25 when she wrote this song. Her level of maturity and insight at that young age is amazing. I'm nearly 60 and it seems that every time I think I fully understand this song, another decade of living passes and then I realize something new, I see another layer or nuance within the lyrics. It may not happen over night but if you stay in prayer, take your kids to church, I promise joy will come. In ways your mind can’t imagine and always stay in prayer over your wife because God is a merciful God and you will see her again because of what Jesus did on the cross. I missed so many days. And now I miss the days as I grow older. I would care for my friends as children. I miss childhood ignorance. Hug your friends. Get up for those events you don’t want to. Try that place, spend that money, take that leap. Cherish the people you love. One day you can wake up and your family, love and home have already burnt up around you. The only thing you can’t get back is time

This song has always been there for me at the best times and the worst. I’ve listened to it on repeat and I’ve gone months without hearing it but every time is like the first time. It’s got me through the worst times in my life. Through rock bottoms of my relationship to my wife’s miscarriages. It’s always had different meanings depending on what I’m going through but at this moment in time it makes me think how much I love my wife and children and that I’m getting older each day so I need to cherish the little things before they’re gone.

This entire set was phenomenal, every song they did was filled with so much emotion. But seeing Stevie and Lindsay both have small moments of true appreciation and fondness for each other's craft and what they've all built together was powerful. This has been my favorite song since i first heard it as a child and always will be-- but this version in particular.

With all due respect, garnettcookking, it gets sadder every year -- that line about "children get older/I'm getting older, too" hits me in the gut a little harder every year; when I started to see my kids and parents all get older at the same time, I really understood this song.
