She actually wrote that about the the guitar player standing next to her when they as a couple were about to join Fleetwood Mac...majority of their hits are about eachother..bitter sweet..their history together is fascinating to say the very least. The way he looks at her in this vid gives me chills...they spoke to eachother in the songs they wrote after breaking up...but still in a band together...to watch them on stage over the years has been addicting to watch...

Song was about her dad who was supporting her music career but she was struggling. He and she agreed that she would give it two more years then come home if it didn't work. That's why it's dedicated to her dad.
@jjames9341Ай бұрын
@@bigal7561 According to an interview she did a couple of years ago she actually wrote it when she was in Aspen when she was in her early 20's, hence the snow covered hills and landslide references. She was supporting Lindsay Buckingham, (the guy standing next to her in this video) so he could play guitar and had truly built her life around him. They got into an argument and he took her car and left her there with just $40. She wrote it in about 10 minutes when she felt her life was landsliding. It is interesting to watch them together performing. She was so forgiving and he is a complete jerk. When she says it's for you "Daddy" he was no longer living.

Her voice is so unique. And that song is pretty emotionally heavy, like you know she's speaking from experience, like she's had many difficult times she had to make it through and she learned to see things differently. Things are always going to keep changing, you only get to The End when you're gone. It's people that are able to be flexible and adaptable that will get through it the best. If you try to resist it or tell yourself you cant move on if something changes, your mind will just hit a brick wall, you'll stop growing, start living in the past, feeling bitter that you've lost something. We should all learn not to be surprised when change happens, accept that it will and dont try to fight it.

Fleetwood Mac (named after two of the original members, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, pronounced McVee) formed in Britain in 1967. Christine Perfect married John McVie in 1970 and became Christine McVie. The band really hit it big in the mid-1970s when Americans (boyfriend and girlfiend) Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks ("Landslide") joined. Fleetwood Mac has so many terrific songs, especially with Christine, Stevie and Lindsey switching off lead vocals among the various tracks. My favorite FM song is "Say You Love Me" with Christine singing lead. ... Some of their other big songs are "Dreams" and "Gold Dust Woman" by Stevie; "Don't Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow)" by Christine and Lindsey; "The Chain" by Lindsey, Stevie and Christine; "I Don't Want to Know" by Stevie and Lindsey; "Go Your Own Way" by Lindsey; and "You Make Loving Fun" by Christine. Fleetwood Mac was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, and Stevie Nicks was inducted as a solo artist into the Hall of Fame this past spring of 2019.

She dedicated it to her Father later in life but in reality it was written about her break-up with Lindsay Buckingham (the guy playing guitar with her during this performance). He was older than her and she felt she had to grow beyond their relationship in order to find her own identity. Their songs ‘Go Your Own Way’, ‘Dreams’ and ‘Secondhand News’ are their back and forth at each other during their break-up.

LindsEy Buckingham is actually a year younger than Stevie Nicks. She wrote this song in 1974 while staying at a friend's house in Aspen. To make a little money for the two of them, Lindsey had gone out on the road with the Everly Brothers, and she accepted an invitation to visit Colorado while he was away. She was sitting in this wonderful house, looking out through some big windows at the mountains, and she could see her face in the reflection of a particular window, superimposed on a mountainside. She and Lindsey had been struggling to make it in the music business for several years (this was before they were invited to join Fleetwood Mac), and she was wondering if she should stick with it or quit and go back to school. They were quite poor at the time and had experienced a recent shattering blow when their record label, Polydor, released their album "Buckingham Nicks" and then failed to support it, despite some critical acclaim. She was working as a waitress and a housekeeper while he stayed home honing his skills as a guitarist (and producer). He was also working out her poems/demos to record as songs. So Landslide is about all of that. She imagined it all up on the mantle of the fireplace in that room. She wondered if she should just take it down and go home or keep climbing up the side of the mountain. Luckily for all of us, she decided to stick with Lindsey and their music. That is the love she refers to in the song.
