Peter Green left the band shortly after this gig. He made a couple of solo albums then had a mental breakdown due to being overdosed with lsd at a party in Germany. He disappeared from the music scene for about twenty five years. After recovering he made a fresh start with a new band. Peter Green’s Splinter Group. He was very shaken early on in the new phase of his career. But gradually he began to recover those guitar skills.

This was the best version of Fleetwood Mac in my opinion! Peter Green was BB King, Carlos Santana and many other’s favorite guitarist! This band sold more records in England than The Rolling Stones or the Beatles in 1968 - only band to have a no#1 song with an instrumental- Albatross!! Check that video out!!

As much as I love Santana, I still prefer the original recorded version by Peter and Fleetwood Mac. Supernatural ( with John Mayall and the Blues breakers ) is impossible use of feedback, and the guitar from Oh Well part 2 is literally out of this world. Also another blues cover where he keeps the amp on the point of destruction and unwanted feed back but ge controls it for rhe entire solo to produce perfect blues guitar. I agree with B B King who said that Peter Green was the only guitarist he personally admired. The only guitarist who gave B B the " cold sweats ". A lot of Peter's recorded music with Fleetwood Mac features Danny Kirwan and / Jerome Spencer on leed guitar. Jerome only did his own numbers ( mostly covers ) and only played slide guitar with Peter playing rhythm for him........Jerome refused to play rhythm for Peter, so they hired Danny Kirwan to play rhythm. But then Peter pushed Danny to the front........but Peter wrote and created it and then taught Danny how to play it. lol

If you enjoy early Fleetwood Mac you should react to Green Manalishi or Oh Well. Both are stone cold classics.

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac's best line up was Peter, Danny Kirwan, Jeremy Spencer, all on guitar, John McVie, on Bass and Mick Fleetwood, on drums. That's when they were a Blues band.

I connected with your comment "its like theres 2 different Fleetwood Macs". I spent YEARS listening to Fleetwood Mac (1977 and on), liked them a lot. Then just a few short years ago i found out about Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac and the music is awesome. Thank you for your reaction.

PETER GREEN, DANNY KIRWAN, MICK FLEETWOOD, JOHN McVIE and JEREMY SPENCER one month before they got died with stp/bad acid that led to psychosis … Peter and Danny were never the same. Danny KIRWAN was 19-20 at the time.

I saw PG's FM in 69 and there after when Green left they morphed into a corn-ball sweet sugar-bear group. But his FM was simply an amazing group. Truly outstanding. Oh well.

Santana covered this song. He put his own spin on it. Came out pretty good. I like this version better. Less busy.

It was Christy McVie (then Christine Perfect) that initially "fancied" Peter Green. Stevie Nicks never met him when he was still with the band.

Stevie Nicks was with ( or just parted)Lindsay Buckingham and she had an affair with Mick Fleetwood (drummer) in 1977 during Australian tour.

More like 3 Fleetwood Macs, first the Peter Green led band (67 to 70) then the Christine McVie, Bob Welch led band (70 to 74) then the Mcvie, Buckingham, Nicks band (which is the one you're familier with from 75 on). The original Fleetwood Mac was a British Blues Band.

Christine McVie nee Christine Perfect, came from a blues based band called Chicken Shack. She was pianist, singer and composer and married John McVie the long time vastly under rated bass player in the band.

I hate this video, it's obviously a dub of the live song over some other song. It's why nothing matches...and give a poor impression of who's playing.

Its a good cover since it adds the drums, Carlos way to play guitar and another good song: Gábor Szabó's "Gypsy Queen"! But it has lost the blues. Matter of taste!
