Fleetwood Mac performs live The Chain on Tango in the Night tour in 198 with two new guitarists Billy Burnette and Rick Vito. That´s the best version of The Chain I´ve ever heard!! Enjoy!

I still believe that this line-up was ----------- by far---------THE best FM of all-time. Both Vito & Burnette were total pros who did a fantastic job, coming in at such a late time, to help make this tour the best ever. ------------and, they could seriously wail on those guitars ! -------------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o

This incarnation of Fleetwood Mac doesn't get the respect it deserves. I found this group more listenable than the current Neil Finn/Mike Campbell concoction. Billy Burnette and Rick Vito breathed some new life into the band.

Hey, you think Billy and Rick can't play. I've been a pro rock guitar man since my first gig in 59. I've met em, I've hear em and they true hot rods. Why do you think they got the call? Truth is they are well known and highly regarded in the industry. They got the gig cause they can cut it. Besides, who would turn down an offer like that.

@@difranma Totally agree! I feel bad for Neil Finn and Mike Campbell from their latest incarnation of the group. Buckingham has such a presence, personality, distinctive voice, and style of guitar playing that no one Mick Fleetwood has lined up to fill in for or replace him has even come close. I mean no disrespect to the talented musicians including those mentioned who were brought on board but none of them were really the right fit and the group was incredible ordinary and rather dull with Buckingham. Christine McVie R.I.P.

Let's keep this in perspective people. It was Lindsey Buckingham who announced (at the eleventh hour) that he was quitting the band and not participating on the "Tango In The Night" tour. To say it left the band in a VERY awkward position is an understatement On extremely short notice, the group hired two newbies who were drafted into the Mac immediately. Given the circumstances, they did a fine job. Granted, neither were Lindsey Buckingham but they were good. So ease up on the hate folks!.....

Lindsey once commented after he left the band in 1987, that he though it was funny that the band had to bring in two guitarist to replace him, but i think the new members did a very good job in this clip.

i accept that it's a matter of taste, but technically ( as a life-long player myself ) Rick is by far a much better player, with a much broader range of styles and capabilities. he can shred, swing, rockabilly, slide ( 'running on empty', 'like a rock' ) country, jazz...you name it, rick Vito is 'the Kand'...you just gotta get to know his playing! he's incredible.

I like this lineup better than the one with Lindsey. He's missed here on this song...especially the intro. I've never liked Buckingham's singing on these songs live onstage. Rick Vito is a great guitarist...to step in on this tour and to do what he did...amazing. Amazing He actually seemed to understand the stage sound and the balance better. When his leads were done, he blended in...unlike Buckingham.

OMG, why you Lindsey´s lovers can´t understand that this is another kind of performance of The Chain. And if one is different to other it´s clear that somebody would like that better and the other one that second like. It´s really difficult to understand that? Yes, Lindsey is legendary guitarist, but that these two guys plays this song different and that doesn´t mean automaticaly that this is worse. And someone (like me) rellay like Tango late 80s style, where is not important who plays guitar.

IMHO, Buckingham is the most replaceable of the five Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac members. I've seen lots of comments about how people won't see FM because Lindsey's not in it. I wonder if they saw FM live when Christine was out. Buckingham has always struck me as being a "my way or the highway" type of guy and not easy to get along with. I've only gotten to see FM once, and it was the third show with the Campbell/Finn duo (they played four pre-1975 songs!)

it's not unusual to know a lot of people when you live in Nashville. you can't shake a cat without whacking 50 guitarists, and it's not difficult to know a LOT of people...not someone's cousin, knucklehead. ghost players are fairly common...if you knew anything, you'd know that. Rick and a few ex-Mac players are planning something new...be watching. evidently THEY think as highly of him as a lot of nashville does...

Are you serious...whether you like it or not he was a member of Fleetwood Mac and did a great job...vocally he is even better than Lindsey and with the guitar he is equal to Mr. B. There is no passion in this version. It sounds like a good cover band. Lindsey may not be as "technical" as Vito, but I assure you he does not need a ghost. If that is the case then who was Vito's ghost. I guess there is a ghost on the live acoustic versions of Big Love, Go Insane, or I'm So Afraid. If I was a ghost for FM when Lindsey plays with them, I would lie and say I played his parts as well, because many people are jealous of those who are great.
