I was only seven years old when this was filmed. Seven and living behind the iron wall of communism in Poland. No Stevie Nicks, no MTV, no fun, no life. I am 44 years old on May 1st. This has just came up in my feed. Out of nowhere. Out of blue. But Feels like home. “Stand back” takes me back to my nightly solo drives across Miami in 2016. I hope to recreate it again this year. Solo. Or with you.

I love this recorded show. Saw her once in Costa Mesa, someone had snagged her ring off her hand during the start of the show. A crowd member grabbed it when she was taking flowers from the fans. She stopped the show and was pleading to please return it as it was a ring her grandmother gave her. So as the show was stopped, I don't remember exactly the time it took, but they actually gave it back!!!. I'm sure Stevie remembers that moment. But she continued the show with nothing short of a great delivery of performed songs. Year was 1989 maybe 1990. Anyway, love hearing her rock and the band too. Great band and back up singers. Stevie Nick's is true rock star and gives it 100% -Stu@rt

I was at the first night of this show! Love, love, love Stevie! And love this video because it was filmed at Red Rocks! It is one of the smaller venues but there is no other place like it in the world! I live 8 miles from Red Rocks and can see it from my house. When I was in high school (same year as this concert) we would ditch school and go party all day there! I still go up there when there are no concerts, hike, picnic, or exercise in the amphitheatre. Also have attended the Easter sunrise service which is absolutely incredible. My daughter is graduating this year and the ceremony is held here! I cannot wait! Feels like I've come full circle at one of the most unbelievably beautiful places in the world! ❤ Red Rocks

I too only discovered Stevie and Fleetwood very late in 2000 when I was 20. But just as same as like you I was not even alive when they had their hits and I was born in a communist country where listening to a west made music was strictly forbidden. You may feel like you have a lot to catch up but actually you don’t. Stevie and Fleetwood sound is so familiar. Like it has always been there within your heart and soul to be released. It will always feel like you are back at home.

Two months after this concert was filmed, Stevie went to rehab at the Betty Ford Center. She wrote about this experience in the Fleetwood Mac song “Welcome to the Room, Sara.” Stevie’s cocaine abuse was so out of control during this concert that they had to reshoot many of the close-ups in a studio later. You could actually see cocaine on her nostrils during many of the close-up shots from the concert, so those shots have all been replaced with footage shot on a later date.

I love all the “coke” breaks hahaha, but her voice did sound so perfectly tortured, you can hear her pain, love, hatred etc in her voice with every single note she sings. Not many artists today have the ability to completely unravel all the emotions in one note, let alone exude them from every second of a song.

@@BrianCormackCarrNot a couple of years, but a few months later. She went into rehab at the Betty Ford Center after the Rock A Little was over in late 1986. She went into the studio in early 1987 to dub over her vocals from the concert with a stronger sounding voice and to perform the whole concert again for additional closeups. It wasn’t unusual to re-record vocals and head shots in the 80’s. Look at the tv series Moonlightjng from 1985-1989. Many of Cybil Shepherd’s closeups were reshot to be more flattering. Unfortunately, the later shots are obvious because Stevie is noticeably thinner than she appeared in concert a few months earlier, her hair is straighter, and her face is more made-up.

@@jimhaggard7436Yes, it's a pity they weren't able to blend these new shots in more seamlessly. It works in very 'produced' media like TV series and films, but looks really noticeable in something that's supposed to be live. I know it's common to shoot more than one show for a live concert release, and to select the best version from each one to create a final 'in concert' presentation - but that's usually done literally days apart, or on consecutive days, so the costume, hair, lighting etc is virtually identical (even then it can be noticeable). The long gap here - and, as you say, the noticeably different appearance - just makes it stand out. I tend to just allow myself to see it as "a combination of a live show and studio-shot video presentation". It's still a great show.

@@BrianCormackCarr I love the Live at Red Rocks concert, despite its flaws. I think it was filmed twice there and one of her biographies mentions that Mick Fleetwood volunteered to keep her company after the concert. They removed and reapplied her makeup for closeups. An example of one of these is during the line “love is a word and some entertain it. If you find it you have won the game,” from Outside the Rain. One closeup is from the night of the concert “after hours” and the next closeup is during Dreams and is filmed later with pinker less nude lipstick.
