Anyone who only thinks of Stevie when they think of Fleetwood Mac is seriously missing out. Christine’s voice is liquid gold.
@artvandelay80903 жыл бұрын
Just goes to show that our society is too enamored with physical and aesthetic beauty and attractions of the flesh than they are with more authentic forms of substance and beauty. If we're being honest, Stevie Nicks has a terrible voice and sings with a nervous machine-gun vibrato. Her interpretation is poor, she drops off the end of notes in an ugly, unmusical fashion, and she doesn't sing perfectly in tune. Her range is limited. Even when she was in her prime, it was not a pleasant-sounding voice. Listening to her singing a phrase is like taking a swig of tudca water. But Christine, a far superior singer had to take a back seat to Nicks, just because Nicks had the sex appeal. But take a look now! Nicks' sex appeal is long gone, she's got bags under her eyes the size of Santa-sacks and all she is left with is her sour, repugnant, unappealing voice.
@patrickmoffatt15963 жыл бұрын
@@artvandelay8090 very stupid comment. Stevie Nicks has been inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame TWICE for a reason. She had a great voice, and sung with passion. Being a performer isn’t all about how good you are at singing, it definitely helps but putting on a show has a massive part as well and Stevie was great at this. Idiot
@jasonkellogg3883 жыл бұрын
@@patrickmoffatt1596 No, it's not a stupid comment at all. Her voice is terrible. It doesn't matter that the public liked her for her sex appeal and for some other shallow, superficial, non-music-related qualities that caused them to go out and buy her records. Her pitch is habitually flat, she has a machine-gun vibrato, kinda' like a munchkin voice, and she has a very limited range. Commercial appeal and musical merit are two separate things and if that's too much for you to grasp, then the stupid one is in your mirror. I don't care that she's in the Hall of Fame. That means nothing. The hall doesn't look at vocal quality. All they look at is commercial success. I suppose you're going to say that Sonny and Cher had great voices, too because they sold a lot of records and had several TV shows? Please, get a brain.
@SilverBullet222503 жыл бұрын
@@jasonkellogg388 & Art = Dumb & Dumber The two of them together put Fleetwood Mac on the map. They didn't sell 40+ million Rumours albums over how good looking someone was,for the simple fact nobody's picture is on the album. They both wrote good songs and had completely different style voices from one another. Christine had a unique British voice that was "liquid gold" just like the Arthur stated. Jason, I'd have to say your the dumber between the two of you. Pretty bold to tell someone to "please get a brain", when you've got shit for yours.
@jasonkellogg3883 жыл бұрын
@@SilverBullet22250 You're such a moron, you can't even cite any technical detail to back up your claim that Stevie Nicks has a good voice (which she doesn't, it sucks). All you can do is keep polly-parroting the same dumb statement over and over about record sales or HOF or whatever. The specific factual detail of why Stevie Nicks' singing sucks has already been provided. You obviously have -0- musical knowledge or expertise to refute that or to defend your inane statements. Keep repeating yourself, dumb-ass!

Classy? The way she got Lindsey Buckingham fired wasn't classy. And her voice sounds the way a sour grape tastes. She sings out-of-tune, she has a machine-gun vibrato, she drops off the end of notes like Cher. The only thing that she had going for herself was sex appeal, which is now completely gone. When she dresses in that long black thing that she wears on stage, she looks like something out of a horror movie, or maybe the perfect "Morticia" on The Addams Family. Her cruelty to Lindsey Buckingham is anything but classy and she's about as elegant as my big toe.

@@mrpentium What I regret is that I didn't really *find* music until I was about uhhhhhh 14? ish? Something. That was when every boy at school was going nuts over Van Halen and Iron Maiden. I was bigtime into Maiden because it was the cool thing to do, but it wasn't my first true love in music. That honor goes to Boston. My sister's boyfriend had "Don't Look Back" on 8 track, and my family inexplicably had their first album on vinyl. One day I just sat down at the turntable with a headset and started really listening, and that was that, I was hooked on them. But I didn't really start going over everything I'd missed from other bands until recently, for some reason. Fleetwood Mac was one of those I never gave any true attention to, over all these years. Thank God for KZbin, because it's all here, waiting to be rediscovered. SO much good music from the 70s to 90s, it'll never be like that again... not for us.

I'm not sure about John McVie because I never really listened to his bass lines before and my earbuds are too shitty to hear them now. I've always noticed that J. McVie always gravitates towards Mick Fleetwood in a performance, which is how it should be. They're really both percussionists. Lindsay Buckingham I totally agree with, listen to 'Big Love' he plays that guitar in real time, no over-dubbing or anything. Criminally underrated, you're right. If I know my Fleetwood Mac lore well enough that was the prime reason they hired him (and subsequently Stevie Nicks, because they were a package deal). Turned out they could also write some pretty good songs.
