What a pair of interpreters! Hvorostovsky is probably my favorite Germont of all I've seen, and Fleming is always SUCH perfection it's not even fair. I've never seen her in a full production of Traviata, must be brilliant.

La Fleming canta senza la ''lagrima'' nella voce,per me canto freddo e calcolato. adoro questa ragazza perché à volte /con qualche suono,qualche emozione/ mi fa impazzire! brava ! Dima come sempre con la sua voce e sensibilità artistica è un esempio unico di 'raffinatezza' artistica e di 'buon' gusto interpretativo... no comment. ps. e poi i giovani intenditori con la loro 'sensibilità unica' cercano di convincermi che la volgarità interpretativa non esiste nell'arte lirica moderna?...

I saw him a few years before he died, at the R.O.H. Covent Garden, in this same role of Papa Germont. He was wonderful!. Diana Damrau was Violeta then. I shall always be grateful that I was able to see him “live” even if it was only that once. Now I console myself by playing all the videos of his concerts and operas that I have. The one of Eugene Onegin is also with Renée Fleming. They are both fantastic in it!
