Hi Guys, once again great to see you all & see you reacting to a classic `80`s comedy. :) For more Chevy Chase, checkout the 1978 film (Foul Play) starring with Goldie Hawn & the 1980 film (Seems Like Old Times) also With Goldie Hawn. As other`s have mentioned the 1980 film (Caddyshack) with Bill Murray & Rodney Dangerfield.

A lot of character actors in this one who are brilliant actors in general along with a few cameos: George Wendt -- Fat Sam...played Norm Peterson in "Cheers". Tim Matheson -- the guy who wants Fletch to kill him --- from the classic comedies "Yours, Mine and Ours" (1968), "Animal House" (1976), and as Van Wilder's father in "National Lampoon's Van Wilder" (write that down) M. Emmett Walsh --- the doctor giving him the prostate exam -- is sports writer Dickie Dunn from the sports comedy classic "Slap Shot" (1977) "Dickie Dunn wrote that, it's gotta be true!" David W. Harper --- the kid stealing the car --- grew up on TV in the 1970s/80s as Jim-Bob Walton in the long running series "The Waltons". Many others in the film as well. Not a Chevy Chase fan myself. He has a tendency to do this thing with his eye brows whenever he delivers the punch line. If I were to recommend another Chevy Chase film, I'd suggest "Caddyshack" or "Funny Farm".

Before SNL, Chevy Chase did a movie called "The Groove Tube" and was a founding member (along with many other soon-to-be-stars of SNL) of the National Lampoon Radio Hour. The Groove Tube is some low-budget fringe comedy madness, definitely worth a viewing.

The soundtrack is quite impressive. The score of the movie was by Harold Faltermeyer, who had just worked on Beverly Hills Cop; and the following year would score Top Gun.

@@RKnights No. "Chevy Chase" is English slang for hunting land (a chase) in the Cheviot Hills on the Northumberland-Scottish border. It gave rise to a famous ballad in the 15th century about a hunting party that accidentally started a war.

This is Chevy Chase in his prime. It's not a complex plot, when I was a child I had no idea what was going on. It's his mannerisms and his dialogue that really make this movie. The kind of flick where the director just says just let him go. And yes, the guy is a total Ahole. But he does know what is funny and what is not, that's probably why directors don't like working with him. In my opinion this is his best film, after that, the first three Vacation movies. Great reaction boys, thank you.

Coulda just praised the movie, enjoyed your 90 mins and go outside and play. But Nooo.... how did you know he's an Ahole? You know him? He worked for you? Or you worked for him? Cos I did. For 4months on a picture. I was an undocumented illegal worker with no papers but fake green card. Could hardly speak English. Got busted and Producer wanted to fire me from craft service. Chevy intervened and rescued me. He didn't need one but I became his 'assistant'. I used the remaining time to learn sound mixing and today I am a post production sound editor. My family has been eating well for 30 years because of Chevy's lifeline. God bless America and the big hearted Americans

@ltcolumbo9708 Damm, didn't mean to upset you, my apologies. No, I do not know the man, just going off a documentary I saw. A lot of people in were saying how selfish and demanding he is, but that doesn't mean I don't love his work. Obviously I'm a fan of his work. Kevin Spacey never rapped me when I was a teenager, but I also watched a documentary on him, so I should just disregard all documentarys? Take a breath, relax, enjoy your life. Have a nice day.

There is a sequel to Fletch that is about as good Fletch Lives. As a child I really liked Chevy Chase's movie Modern Problems, but I tried to watch it a few years ago and it is pretty horrible. The other famous movies he made are the Vacation franchise and Caddyshack - not films I enjoyed as a child or adult.

This is such an interesting movie, because Chase makes it appear like a comedy, but it's actually deep, dark social realism, about entrenched corruption at all levels of society.
