I was born the same year Star Trek The Next Generation aired. This was one of my favorite childhood movies to sit and watch in grade school. I bought and read the original novel by Tom Clancy in seventh grade. I like both versions. Yes, that was Gates MacFadden starring in a cameo as Jack Ryan's wife.

This is the movie that launched Leslie Neilson comedy career. Up until this movie he was a serious, dramatic actor.

It's called fantasy guys. It's not necessarily weird. Logic can't be applied

Robert Vaughn was TV's "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and Richard Thomas was John Boy on "The Waltons" I'd think you'd recognize Sam Jaffe from something. He was in countless movies and TV shows since his career began in the 1940s until his passing in 1984

Tell your clueless friend, that not having certain books in schools isn't "banning". It's having age appropriate material in the school system. Porn for instance. You can still get the books, they are not burned. This is why critical thinking is important.

I played catch with my Dad a lot. I love baseball and I could never play because I am a female. I hate softball. I played sandlot with the boys in the neighborhood and I was chosen first because I got my growth spurt before the boys and I could hit, throw, run better than them until their bodies caught up. I watched Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays play in spring training and Mickey in NYC. I dragged my Dad to spring training later to see Pops Willie Stargell. Moonlight was a real player but in 1905 not 1922 like in the movie

Just one little footnote. If u recall, Terrance Manns father listed him missing after repeated phone calls. That because Mann had passed away, and he was a spirit like the players, so thats why he was invited out with the players.

This movie helped to shape my young imagination and was one of the first movies that brought me to tears. I watched this film with my father who recently passed away and I would give ANYTHING to have one more catch. Great reaction.. genuine as always.

Anyone who can watch this without choking up a little towards the end, has to have been through some *really* nasty stuff. And/or has some serious issues.

I saw on Amazon a limited edition Babylon 5 Ambassador Delenn action figure, thought I like the Morden poster more. And there is a Susan figure as well.

It's a great movie! But at the end, I couldn't help thinking about what they'd do for the need of restrooms, with that line of cars coming!
