Craftsman 19.2v Power Tool Hack

Got some older Craftsman 19.2v power tools that run on ni-cad batteries? Well, you can either keep paying through the nose for those old ni-cads batteries, or bring new life to your older tools through this hack. (OK, so it's not really a hack, but its something I didn't know, and perhaps you don't either... and it will bring new live to your older tools!)

Theres always the choice and these where still in the shitty phase but there sometimes where corded sucks like jobsite with no power and im no framer but cordless impact or circ saw just looks tighty, yeah dont really mind corded my hole hawg is my favorite tool

My dad had the same set but where thrown out due to battery issues but later i realized there is new celled tech batterys or you can buy the cells and change them out yourself and isnt hard, i wouldnt throw them out and would do both and run the adapter for current 20v batteries

I also bought some 6 AH 19.2 lithium batteries for my old Craftsman combo set and I’m pretty pleased. I will say be careful with them if you’re really working the drill as they don’t seem to have good over current protection. Nearly melted one down while drilling with an 18” ship auger bit. Contacts on the battery got so hot that it started to melt the battery casing.

Wow, you found some six ampers!?---I loved my 19.2's Crftman. The cadmium, while suspect I suppose, went the distance for me, but I'd like to try the lithium version. Is this through Amaz?---& a particular maker for the pack?

I know this is a old video...But, there is adapters you can get now so you can use the new V20 Craftsman batteries. Since I started buying the new V20 series tools, I bought the adapters for my 19.2V stuff.

Good drills I used 1 for 7 years 6 days a week and it installed and tore out thousands of windows and doors..great drill but heavy af...Using dewalt 20 now but I can`t imagine they will outlast this 1...amazon man 15 each on battery..

Yeah, those 19.2's (were/are) great!---People were so impatient to get to the next tech, in lithium, that I'd find Crft.drill matches at the thrift store. Those cases were really well built. And yes, while lithium has many advantages, the cadmium was a work-horse too. Thanks if you could get back to me about the current ability to be able to find the 19.2 lithiums through Amazon was it? My cadmiums finally, (after ten years) stalled. to a slow cycle range.

Excellent video. We stopped using the NICd batteries when sears brought out the Li batteries. We were only getting around two years of life out of the NiCd under heavy use. We have a large variety of the 19.2 volt craftsman tools including pruning chain saw bush trimmers, 7" and 6" circular saws and impact drivers. We found that the performance of the LI batteries greatly improves cutting power of the saws and trimmers and the impact drivers. We were also looking at the batteries on Amazon and will give them a try also.

Yeah to much personal information we didn't click on this to hear stories about a guy ordering chargers batteries and batteries again and finally a dual battery charger all for a old black and Decker power drill!😅I really wish someone could have told this guy u can get a drill and battery and new lithium ion charger for way cheaper than the shit you bought what in the hell were you thinking!?? Ni-cads will eventually to refuse to charge after about 2 years. The register as charged as soon as you put the depleted battery on the charger.

I'm sure the craftsman brand batteries have Samsung lithium ion batteries. And your knock off has some kinda battery with a little lithium in it somewhere. When it does just replace the batteries with Samsung's lithium ion. They will be 25+ for just the batteries

Search KZbin on how to jump start a 19.2 volt craftsman battery. I had the same problem with 4 of my 8 batteries and this trick fixed them all.

To the many, many stupid people that left shitty comments because they apparently couldn't handle 8 mins of raw content w/o going bananas and losing the ability to focus... Actually, Yes, he does mention a hack. I know because by watching this video I saved myself time, money, and stress- pretty much the definition. He's saying that- although craftsman (nor any other company) outright markets or endorses this- you CAN use aftermarket 19.2v batteries in old 18v craftsman hands tools. HE TRIED IT. Saved us the trouble of having to do that ourselves, see? Then, he took the time to let us know about it. That way if you meant to go buy another useless 18v nickel cadmium you could make a wiser decision. (This is when you should say thank you- not be dicks) *bonus- they now also make 18v to 20v adapters for craftsman so you can use the even better 20v DeWalt batteries. The option he mentions is cheaper and for either you'll need to also purchase a charger. Quit being trolls. It's gross

Short answer is yes. Of course there are many factors and timing issues etc... Housing and new construction is booming again currently. The truss plants in the region have their parking lots full to capacity etc... i.e. they are employing a lot of people.

I bought a lithium ion battery for my ni-cad powered impact wrench. The battery doesn't fit into my charger. There are 2 grooves in 2 of the battery contact housings that prohibit the battery from being fully inserted into the battery charger. Is that what you encountered as well?
