Programs like Porridge are sadly long gone from our screens, great writing and wonderful character acting made it such a massive hit during the 1970s......miss those great times

It really takes a special mix to make shows like this, and right person to put them together. Finding the right ingredients and the chef to make this metaphorical cake seems beyond the ability of today's showrunners. The low standards many a audience have sunk to is probably a factor. Less incentive to try when so little will do.

An excellent episode of a superb comedy. Ronnie Barker et Al were peerless in this. "We will never see its kind again", but we can enjoy clips on YT to remind ourselves of what we are missing.
