I have petitoned the State of AZ to save the Salt River Wild Horses and I will absolutely stand up and call every single representative and senator for AZ to get this passed. SAFE Act is absolutely needed so we can protect these beautiful and majestic creatures and keep the, from geing shipped for slaughter. We would all be howling at the moon if this was cats or dogs. We need to keep the same energy for horses as well.

You’re on the frontline Julie and see so many heartbreaking things, the people who make the laws need to see what you see, only then will laws be changed. I understand your concern on how Bowie may react to you speaking out, as horse trade is their business but you’re not pointing fingers at them, you’re pointing out how previous owners have let these beautiful animals down. Please don't paint all Amish by the same brush. There are good and bad people in all walks of life. The Amish I know are kind to their horses and take good care of them. My sister has older horses and it is a struggle to put weight on and keep it on.

Although I don't live in the area now, the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area is loaded with discarded horses that were owned by the Amish. The $laughter pipeline in the Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia area is constantly seeing carriage and draft horses that are abused and sent to auction, then if not bid on, off to begin the ride to either Mexico or Canada. The end of their life is horrific. Just the ride to both those countries is dreadful. We need to stop these poor horses from being sent out of our country.

They ship them out of the city I live in, in Canada. Our local news did a small excerpt on this several years ago and it's bad. They ship them in too small spaces they can't lift their heads and they go to Japan as horse meat is a delicacy there. Terrible. I did what I could to make my voice heard, and I hope others did too after seeing that news clip. I hope that bill is passed in the USA.

If done properly they can pull logs. Remember they are a working breed. Check out Working horses with Jim as he logs and farms with horses. His horses are very well taken care of and look it to.

I signed the petition! I remember singing petitions & writing letters back in the 90's to stop horse slaughter in the United States. We've come a long way since then, but sadly we still have a long way to go to completely stop the slaughter of these beautiful horses in Canada & Mexico. I even petitioned for horses back in the day to be labeled as companion animals & not livestock which would make the slaughter of them illegal anywhere.

I have been watching your KZbin channel since you started and the number of Belgium drafts you have rescued in a short time is amazing and indicative of the extent of the problem. No animal should end up in slaughter after working so hard all their lives. I know you must have moments where you think you are fighting a flood with a couple of sandbags, but remember you have a big invisible support group behind you, cheering on every rescue. I seem to recall there was some friction between your organizations in the past (I hope I’m misremembering…) but surely it’s something that can be gotten past as we all ultimately have the same goal and have the horses’ interests at heart. I sent him an email, but of course silly me he won’t respond since I’m not a constitution and sent me back to my WA senators. So…that’s what I’m going to do later tonight. It didn’t appear to me any action has been taken in committee since 6/2023, but hopefully my Senators can fill me in.
