Curious what brand and color NCP thread you are using. Has a very striking appearance yet simple.

When you say let stand at room temperature for drying, what is a good room temperature for using Flexcoat finish ?

Hi! How many times do I have to apply the finish?
@flexcoatcompany3 жыл бұрын
Two coats works great and allows you to cut off thread stickups or other anomalies that could occur on the first coat.

This sounds like your finish was under mixed or miss-measured or both. Shoot us an email using the contact info on our website flexcoat.com

How long do you wait before wiping off excess finish?
@flexcoatcompany4 жыл бұрын
Ruben, you always apply a little bit more finish than you need on your first application. Then after it’s been on there for about 10 minutes and you think it has soaked all the way down to the blank and filled that tunnel between the thread, the blank and the guide foot, you takeoff almost everything you can get off. This is for the first coat only. I call that the primer coat then you need to apply a second final coat of finish to the rod after eight hours.

By not turning the rod you have such a thin coat you can see all your brush strokes.

Gorilla Glue CLEAR works great. UV resistance and goes on easy. Dries fast too.
@flexcoatcompany4 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. I have tested that product for the use on fishing rods and it doesn't hold up to Epoxy.

I agree Rick James I've been using gorilla glue clear for years and have no problems

You forgot to mention how to address bubbles in your finish.
@flexcoatcompany5 жыл бұрын
Yes, we didn't cover bubbles. Trying to keep it short and sweet. If you have bubbles in your finish pop them...with a torch or a heat gun. Thanks

I’ve been building rods for about 10 years now. I just thought it’s something a newb should know before attempting rod finishing.
@flexcoatcompany5 жыл бұрын
@@ronh8717 You are correct. Bubbles can be a problem. Best practice is to not introduce them in the first place by heating the finish before mixing.
