When I think about my amateur bodybuilding career, starting in 9th grade in 1979, through my college years ending in 1989, I realize that my training, nutrition, supplementation, EVERYTHING wouldn't hold a candle to what is going on right now. I think I worked hard (obviously not hard enough to go pro), but there is no way those in my time could complete with the same training and nutrition as today. What gets to me is the massive amount of injury and illness these days. I'm fairly certain some of my own health problems are a result of "supplementation" in the 80's. I can't imagine what the current guys are going to have to endure later in life.

Depends than 90s guys may have been more conditioned but with the start of the mass monsters like Dorian and Nasser pushed guys to add more size like Flex, Ray, Labrada which has pushed bbing to where it is now. So judging standards are based off mass primarily and conditioning is more distant criteria. So on average most of todays bbers are bigger than the 90s bbers. I think if the criteria changed than bbers would prioritize conditioning more. But i think with classic physique coming in, conditioning in the open division wont be a priority. Maybe open bbing itself should have weight classes eg heavy, medium and light weight and a posedown for the overall. Then we will see mass monsters go head to head with conditioned athletes and i think would be interesting.

Flex, This is exactly right! The times are different and it does not matter if a sprinter from 15 years ago has a better PB than the best sprinter today. Dexter and the guys are the champions of today and the best in their game today. The sport evolves. Nothing else matters. Respect Flex! That was a proper way of showing respect to the other guys instead of laughing - like the big man with the chicken voice did.... Also not that the big man with the chicken voice thinks that gravity is heavier in a deadlift than in a squat, because in a deadlift, the weight is closer to the ground... I mean.. COME ON!!!!
