I’ve had my two Flexcut pros. I have the 1 5/8 and 1 3/8. I love both. I mainly use Helvie and then OCCT and DHK. These knifes can hold their own. Good job detailing these

I really appreciate you showing the thickness. I expected that the Pro series was going to have a nicer handle and a thinner blade. They made it thicker… I must not have Pro standards. Now that Flexcut has taught me what Pro actually means, I can surmise that Beavercraft thickness is the MOST PRO 🤓

I agree, i dont understand why they would have made them that thick. I just got a couple in the mail today and i have to say in person they are thicker then they look on this video. Im honestly disappointed..

@@CosmicCharlie I hear you. That's a bummer! Honestly, I think I'd be fine with it, if they didn't specifically make the Detail knife thicker and call it, "PRO." Making a Detail Knife thicker and marketing it as the Pro Version is a flat-out lie. "Ah, look... the horns on my bull carving. I'm going to have to take the thinnest slices I can manage off the horns to shape them carefully. I think I'll grab my THICKER Flexcut. After all, I'm a professional..." 🤣🤣

These look great. I like the unvarnished handles and the shape looks far more comfortable for my big mitts. The longer ones do look a little fragile for some if the harder woods i have though and it'd be good to see a similar length blade as the chip knife but mounted straight as a mini detail.

I recently got the 1-3/8 " blade knife . Sharp from day one. Can''t compare to Helvie , but these knives are much sharper that the bevel bladed Flexcut knives. Personally Flexcut should make all their straight bladed knives a flat ground knife.

The thicker handles might be better for those of us that have bad arthritis, I have trouble holding all my older knifes because of this.

Anything that costs more than an OCCT knife better be special. I'm glad they made the blades more rigid, though.

1095 steel it does say this on there web site you gotta look at there spec sheet.

Thanks for pointing that out! I looked at the spec sheet for the 3 pack I bought and didn't see it there, but you are correct that it is on the spec sheet for the individual knives. Sorry I didn't catch that and thanks for sharing.

Should be able to get 1095 to 62-63 HRc with a 2 hour temper

Nope, mike shipley and his wife used to make the OCCT. Kryshak is up in Wisconsin.

@@woodrocksandplantsandstuff721 I came back to this comment to see if anyone had anymore info. Instead we're just heading in the wrong direction. According to Chipping Away, stadtlandercarvings, and reddit. Kryshack bought OCCT. I can't seem to find where to actually buy certain KCT gouges though, so I was hoping someone would comment that. The gouges I want aren't in stock anywhere, so I'm hoping Kryshack gets some more momentum soon. I have no reasonable way of knowing if they are actually the same tools, and it doesn't seem like anyone knows. It would be great if someone knew.

My understanding is that Mike Shipley sold the primary business to KCCT who continued producing similar knives as well as gouges under the KCCT label. At the same time, Shipley continued to (and still does) make the walnut handle OCCT knives only. These are still available at many carving suppliers. For some reason the KCCT tools seem to be not available much recently, not sure why. I have only one KCCT knife and haven't used it enough to speak directly to their quality or consistency in comparison to the OCCT knives.

I like Flexcut ..but not really impressed with these knives ..The blade should be further into the handle ..Just not for me
