I'm so excited! Right off the bat, you said, "let's see what it feels like". That is key! I can't wait to try this technique. It never occurred to me to put fabric on the inside and the outside! I already had the signatures attached to a heavy piece of water color paper. I would have been better off taking them off and then sewing them back in! I still might do it! What you did is so much more beautiful and finished looking! I have a ton of book covers. I don't think I will ever do a hard spine again. It's just too much trouble. Squishy is more fun! Thank you Carol for doing this for me! I was thinking about doing a hidden spine which I think I could have done if I had sewn the signatures onto a piece of fabric first , instead of the water color paper! I think I am going to take the whole thing apart again! I will keep you posted. I don't need the rounded piece of chipboard at all. It comes out rounded looking the way that you did it. Thanks again, Carol! I'm on a mission! lol This video is one of many of yours going into my "saved" junk journal playlist!😊

Hi Rhonda 😁 yes it’s all about how things feel to me also. I’m so happy you are inspired to try it and you can adapt the size to fit your signatures ! I will do a hidden spine version next week if you can wait that long 😊 or have a go just sew your signatures to the fabric and cover the outside and your good to go. Thank you for the suggestion and for your never ending support it means more than you know ❤️

@@RecraftedByCarol I think I'm going to dislodge the signatures, cover the piece of water color paper with fabric, and then sew them back on. Either that, or I will just sew them into some of the spine fabric, which would be softer. I can always use a tutorial on using fabric for the structures! I love the concept of "squishy"! I can wait! LOL Thank you, Carol!

I haven’t done a soft spine as of yet and was making a small art journal for one of my granddaughters with which I wanted a soft spine so it would lay flat. Thanks for sharing!

LOVED this video; so inspiring. One question though, how do you attach the signatures? I've hunted through your tutorials , but can't find. I've been wanting to make a soft cover sketchbook with watercolor paper, and this is so cute!
@RecraftedByCarol Жыл бұрын
Hi Jeanette thank you I’m glad you enjoyed the video 😊 you would add the signatures the same way as in a hard spine, I personally would use a 3 hole pamphlet stitch ! I have a couple of videos where I do this, for a hidden spine method see this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYuxh2uvapuHprs And for a basic 3 hole pamphlet stitch it’s this one - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHynXoV_mp6Ejac I hope this answered your question 😊

Could this type of outer book be used for fabric pages for a fabric stitch up?
