I really love the way you constructed this journal! I've been trying to come up with a way to make a journal with a lot of pages in it that will still open flat and this looks like the way to go. Could you please tell me what type of sewing machine you use? I don't know how to use one but I've been meaning to get one. So many journaling projects I would like to use one for. I've been afraid I'd break one if the paper was too thick and I got a model that couldn't handle that. So glad I found your channel tonight. Thanks so much and cheers!
@carollaws838 Жыл бұрын
i, thank you for joining me - my machine is a husquvana. I put it onto a heavy fabric setting and a thicker needle if I am sewing through a cover like this - I test it out with scraps in the layers I want before I start. not sure this helps - you dont have to sew though, just glue well xx
@maggienickleson1223 Жыл бұрын
@carollaws838 Thanks so much for your reply! Yes that does help:) I didn't realize there was a thicker fabric setting on machines. Also a good idea on the thicker needle. I've been relying totally on glue and anything I can (no so neatly) hand sew. Smart to test scraps first as well so your project doesn't get botched!

@carollaws8383 жыл бұрын
Hi Nora, the needle I have is size 80, if that helps. I used a bigger zigzag, it went through fine. If you were concerned for your machine, you could use off cuts to layer a piece to try, I think I did that the first time. hope that helps x

Hi I don’t know if you read these messages but I have a question How do you sew through the box or card stock ? Do you use a different needle or do you use the regular needle on the sewing machine? Thanks Sandra
@carollaws8382 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandra, my needle is an 80, which I think is a usual size - I have also used a 'jeans' needle. I tried a piece of card and fabric spine through the machine as a test piece to check first, and it worked fine. if you do this, think about making a test piece as your putting the cover ane spine together. I also use a larger stitch than I normally would. Hope that helps.

@@sandramontague4053 Hi, its a quilting ruler, that measures 8.5" x 12.5" and I use it to measure my papers, as I dont get on with a paper cutter. I find using this more accurate. I guess its what you get used to using - and I am happy to answer your questions xx
