In this video, I took down my 10" large android screen and reinstalled my OEM screen on my 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 in order to show you the new module from DMP car design that will add Apply CarPlay and Android Auto to the OEM stock screen. Just a update for people who have bought the DMP module recently and received the new model.. it’s almost the same thing as this unit, just less connections. And you don’t need to run a wire into your arm console. The new unit uses Bluetooth to run the sound to your car, so the 3.5mm that’s on it gets plugged into the mic input in the module. Then you enter your cars "connect your cars Bluetooth" connection to the “DC audio BT” Bluetooth, once connected you can go to the media>bluetooth connection, and while there press and hold the end call button on your steering wheel which will take you to the CarPlay screen and you can connect your phone to CarPlay from there. Also, me and my friend ran into an issue where our speakers didn’t work after everything was set up. We had to pull the multimedia fuse from the passenger side panel out for a bit then everything worked perfect.. Srry i posted this here, but your channel is the best and most detailed one that explains a lot, and most people come to you 💯

it's a pretty sweet mod if you don't plan on ripping out your OEM screen. Also, it runs off the data from your phone whereas most of the features on the 10" android screen requires a live internet connection. However the android screen is touchscreen which is nice.

My module turns my display off and the lights on my cars center module where the AC and multimedia lights right whenever I try to switch it to the module screen when holding the back button. After bunch of tries of holding back button I finally get my stock screen back but if I hold the back button to switch to the CarPlay screen it turns off my screen and the lights on my center module. Any clue what’s happening?

Hows the Bluetooth phone calling sound, as I have noticed with the Android screen or the older external attachment modules to the car for apple car play when using Bluetooth phone calling it echos alot, so the other end can barely hear me sometimes.

The new unit utilizes Bluetooth to transmit audio to your car, hence the 3.5mm jack on it needs to be connected to the microphone input on the module.

I see your fuse in the back of the radio is green and 20A the one in mine is 15A. And it’s a 2015 model. I’m just wondering if that could be why there’s no sound from my speakers. Hey Flexx another follower asked you this already but I was reading the notes when You go to the dmpcardesign webside , and this is what I found: 1.Works with wireless Apple CarPlay, pairing via Bluetooth, transfer via WIFI. 2.Work with Wired CarPlay also,turn off wifi at first, connect via lighting cable(wired keep your phone charged at the same time) In the kit it doesn't show the usb cable , do you know anything about that.. really appreciated your answer....

Hi Flexx, When you're connecting the blue connection (display) to the OEM radio display input, where do you connect the other side of the cable? It's a female USB. There are no cables in the box that end with an AUX connection, except for the mic. Thanks in advance!

Not sure what you are referencing. Everything in my video is clear for the kit I got. If you are missing something or it’s different, you have to reach out to your reseller for support. If you bought from DMP, they will be more than glad to help you.

How is it when you want to fx play music through CarPlay? Like fx I own a Peugeot 308 from 2016 now, and added CarPlay for it later on. The way it works, is that CarPlay boots up easy every time I start the car, but if I want to play music, I first have to switch the cars audio output to Bluetooth, then go into CarPlay, open Apple Music and play something, for then to open my iPhone to also select Bluetooth as the output on that for music sound to come through CarPlay. Is it the same story with this Mercedes CarPlay, or is it different? Hope that made sense..

It’s different. The CarPlay module has a setting to automatically control the switching of audio source. Let’s say I get into my car and my screen is on the oem interface. I can hear music from radio and stuff. If I hold down a button to access CarPlay, screen will auto go into the CarPlay, the audio source will auto switch to aux, and I can get music playing automatically by selecting music from my phone or the CarPlay interface. (As long as Bluetooth/WiFi is turned on on my phone and I already went through pairing it for the first time) I can also program my CarPlay to automatically connect to my phone as soon as I enter the car. So if bluetooth/WiFi is turn on my phone…as soon as I start the car…CarPlay interface is on and I can start using it and listing to music. No crazy fumbling to switch audio source or connect or anything. It’s quite good. Once you manual pair it for the 1st time, you can set it to auto connect.

Hi, I have a couple of questions about this unit: - What is that audio to USB cable for? Not sure what audio it is referring to. - Can you listen to the radio from the MB system and at the same time have Google maps on the screen? I don't understand if you either need to use just one of the systems (i.e. just use GMaps with YT music only - both in Carplay, or you can listen to radio from the MB original system and also have GMaps on the screen from Carplay) at a time or you can combine them. That’s how you get audio from the module into your oem speaker system. It’s kinda like an AUX. Not 100% sure but i believe when you are in the CarPlay or android auto system…you are confined to those systems. Because the audio switches from OEM audio to the module audio (that’s plugs into the usb) when you access CarPlay/android auto.

Don’t know. Mine went out and it was covered under warranty. If not, be prepared to have to rip your door apart to get to the led. You can’t replace from the outside.

So my kit just arrived everything looks good except it came with a mic. Where is the best place to run it to. I noticed yours didn’t have this. Also do I need the mic or does it run off the factory mic?

You need to install the mic and I suggest behind the screen or otherwise inside the middle box near the aux cable. Don't put it inside with the module as it won't listen well too your voice commands or phone calls.

Hey, i just purchased this and got it installed today. Was quite a pain in the butt because they updated the module from how it looks in your video and they didn't ship me a manual. Do you find the quality of the apple car play to be a bit lower compared to the original Mercedes? I think it's like 720p quality but I can't figure out how to make it look crisper. If you have a 2018 model there is a chance your car is pre equipped for CarPlay. Check your vin and look for option code SA154 Panasonic headunit

No. That’s only if I don’t set CarPlay to auto connect. If I have auto connect setup on the module and my phone has Bluetooth turned on…when I walk into the car…CarPlay auto connects to my phone. I will only need to hold the back button if I wanna go back to my oem interface.
