I own a 2013 s line A4, it’s a sweet car, be careful of maintenance I’ve had both bearings headlights and breaks and rotors done with only 131000km. But other then that it’s great

Fun fact: although on certain applications where neither a PRV or pressure relief valve or a BOV is present If your car is already equipped with a Pressure Relief Valve then putting a Blow Off Valve onto it instead will actually damage your turbo more than keeping it original with the PRV. It’s a cool mod and it sounds great just not always necessary 😅

Doesn’t make the flutter sound unless I immediately get off the throttle. That’s not how I drive so the flutter sound is rarely heard.

Can confirm i have a AUDI TT MK1 225 bought it second hand and came with a BOV. Have been reading codes saying "System too Rich" Figured it was the BOV because of what i had read and swapped to a R1 APR DV and its night and day difference tons of boost lost with the BOV. Personally Wouldn't get one if anyones thinking about it! Just my 2 cents im sure there are cars that run great with a BOV!

Wondering a few things. If you wanted turbo sounds why not upgrade the intake? After market BOVs on stock setups can actually hurt performance and your maf sensor could make you run rich. Wondering if you’ve experienced any issues with them?

depends on a car but average no, just need to trick the ecu on some cars bc some valves are eletronic rather than mechanic without a BOV you can cause boost surge and excessive wear on the turbo

@@joaoguedes__ what you’re hearing in the video is 100% turbo flutter which is compressor surge. This will take some life off the turbo in all reality but will not cause it to fail prematurely unless it’s revved like such 24/7

Yes and no. This is not compressor surge that will destroy your turbo. Compressor surge is if you get get charged air flowing back to the turbo while the turbo is still trying to build up boost when the throttle is open and foot still on gas pedal. My flutter is only when I quickly close the throttle and air flows back and gets purged by the blow off valve and some excess goes to the turbo. Only happens if I quickly let off the gas pedal which is not how a normal person drives. I only do it when showing off.

@@samwh4775 the "stutututu" is turbo flutter and not blow off valve sound. It is however created by air not being able to go through the blow off valve because it is "closed" or the spring is too stiff. Sounds great, not so great for the turbo though.

@adrian, I've read more and more about it and the "flutter" sound on Audi and other cars isn't that bad...it's actually pretty common for the flutter sound to come out through the intake. The stock intake just happens to do a good job of hiding the sound. So as soon as an aftermarket intake is installed (especially an open filter) or a BOV is installed...the sound is finally free. The only time you really want to be worried is if you are flooring the car (while building boost) and you get the flutter noise during acceleration. Then that means there's too much boost coming out of the turbo that can't flow into the throttle body so there's a surge of pressure that's forced in the opposite way towards the turbo. That's bad because while you are flooring the car, the exhaust fumes are spinning the turbo one way to build boost, and at the same time, the surge is coming in the opposite direction trying to spin the turbo in the opposite way. Very taxing on the turbo. Mine only makes the flutter noise if I immediately get off the throttle. So I'm no longer trying to build boost. And my flutter noise is not during WOT (wide open throttle) acceleration. however, I might take off the BOV and put the stock diverter valve back on. I think my IE stage1 tune is setup in a way to work with the stock valve that recirculates the air...not to have it release into the atmosphere. And I have plans of stage2...so i really don't want to risk it. If I had no ecu tune...I would keep the BOV on. Yeah...so I might take it off and give it away to a viewer in a future video but I'm keeping the turbo muffler delete and intake on.

The spacer is what acts as the blow off valve. Air vented to atmosphere instead of being recirculated. Muffler delete is not necessary

So I just installed a turbo muffler delete and a blow-off valve, and my CEL turned on. Got the code scanned and it came back saying I might have a leak in the air intake system. Main error code said to clean the MAF sensor, which I did, and nothing changed. I just went back and unplugged and re-tightened all the pipes I touched during the install, still no change. Anyone else ever have this issue? Or does anyone know of any solutions I might be missing here (other than buying a new MAF sensor- gonna hit that one last).

Hmm. I didn’t have that issue at all. 1) did you only scan for the faults? Or did you actually clear the fault and see if it came back? 2) Did you revert back to the stock parts, clear the fault, and see if the error won’t come back? That way you can rule out if it’s the aftermarket parts causing the issue. Cause that’s the first thing I would do. The bov is a pain in the ass to remove and reinstall, so maybe start with just swapping back to the stock turbo muffler first, clearing the fault, and see if the error comes back. If it comes back, then revert the bov back to stock and see. If both are back to stock and you’re still having issues, then it’s def not the aftermarket parts and something else is causing the check engine light.

As far as I am aware, our cars run on a closed loop, so adding a blow off valve will vent the air instead of recirculating, so probably that is why you get the CEL as the system thinks MAF is reading wrong amount of air getting through the intake. I read that BOV is not healthy for our car, instead should use a Diverter Valve

Noticed my a4 b8.5 was suffering from "turbo flutter" or compressor surge after tuning on ie stage 1 93. (Oddly enough it's only happened recently after close to a year with the tune) Thanks to their new mobile app I was able to monitor my psi, which seemed to be rather high (28psi upon initial acceleration and fluctuating between 14 and 17 holding) not entirely sure if this was the issue but I did notice that psi drop from 28 to 25 and a fairly steady 14-15 when holding after I Installed the GFB dv+ VTA. it completely fixed the issue! I was hesitant to put it on as I didn't want the stu stu stu, but I was pleasantly surprised by an aggressive wooooosh Instead! Great product and content as always FLEXX my boy.

Don’t know. I already took it off and went with a DV+ that doesn’t purge the air. I’m going to a stage 2 tune soon and that tune probably isn’t gonna like the air not recirculating back into the system. When I took it off, it was operating fine and I’ve seen other videos of the same blow off valve on audis and they sound like mine. There’s a wooosh sound but the Stututut sound kinda overpowers it.

In the video I had a blow off valve. Now I have a DV+ because it’s better for maintaining boost pressure. I still have the stustustu sound but only when I immediately get off the gas pedal after flooring it. Other than that…when I drive, I mainly hear the sucking sound of the intake and my exhaust. You don’t want the stututu sound all the time. It’s bad for the turbo cause the sound is made when air pressure is flowing into the turbo from the opposite end and going against how the turbo spins.

It had a stage1 tune but it’s not necessary with just an intake and blow off valve. My car is has a stage 2 tune now cause I upgraded the downpipe. It’s in my latest video.

I would say go watch my intake video and do that mod first. It’s easier to do and should give you good sound. Turbo muffler doesn’t have that much sound. Blow off valve will give sound but depending on your car…it might not be that loud.

It’s the camera mic and my bov. It’s actually not super loud like in the video. And I found out the gold plunger/valve on my bov was moving slow even though I lubed it. I fixed it and the stututu is still there but a tad quieter.

He's talking about the turbo muffler delete. No pipe. It's a piece that allows air to flow smoother and more effective essentially. You may be thinking of a turbo inlet pipe maybe , or a muffler delete? This is a cylindrical shaped metal piece that fits in your hand

A surge is like taking a leaf blower and trying to blow a fan blade in the opposite direction while the fan is on. Mine is like taking a low powered leaf blower and trying to blow a fan blade in the opposite direction while the fan is already turned off. Two completely different things with different levels of "damage" if any. My stustustu sound is purely when I get off the gas pedal and the turbo is no longer forcibly spinning. It’s barely going to do harm to the turbo like a compressor surge.

Hey I have a question, you have the IE stage 2 tune in the car right ? Because I’ve seen people saying that after the tune the car still revs up to 4,000rpms which is really annoying and yours revs higher and I’m interested on getting that rev limiter off

You don't really want to be redlining in park with no load on the engine. Too easy to over rev. Maybe to 5.5, it's there for a reason. But i get what you mean

Most likely the BOV and the turbo muffler are in the same spot as the A4 in the video, just make sure u got the right BOV and Muffler delete. I got an Audi c7 A6 as well and I’m gonna be doing this as well. I

Don’t know. I only know the BOV I installed and there’s zero issues. Haven’t had a single check engine line ever since I installed it.

BOV is giving me check engine light, what did you do about it because it’s the air mass flow sensor for me. did you just remove the error code? or didn’t you get a error code?

Why won’t you get the code checked out and it will tell you exactly what’s wrong. Might not even be related to the BoV or you might have a stuck BoV.

No issues from me. If I get errors, I will show it in my video. If I had that issue…I’ll delete it…and run the car for a week to see if they same thing comes back before I start tearing stuff apart. Not all BOV are the same too.

@@limpish1358 It’s not recommended to run these no matter how insane it does sound, they can just cause a bunch of issues that can be scary to navigate. It is a diverter valve not a blow off valve meaning that it recirculates it back into the intake instead of venting it to the atmosphere that’s where the air mass code is most likely coming from as it’s literally a leak you have installed.

”A blow off valve or dump valve is used on a turbo PETROL engine. A petrol engine has a throttle butterfly valve which blocks the inlet when you take your foot off the accelerator. When you do this, the pressurized air from the turbo has nowhere to go. Without a blow off valve, the back pressure can cause the turbo compressor to slow or stall. When you try to accelerate again, the turbo has to spin up to speed again which creates lag or a flat spot. With a blow off valve fitted, when the throttle is closed, the blow off valve vents the boosted air so that the turbo compressor does not slow or stall so that when you press the accelerator again, the blow off valve closes and the boost is there instantly because the compressor is still spinning fast. A diesel engine doesn't have a throttle butterfly valve to restrict the inlet when you take your foot off the accelerator, so the turbo does not slow/stall anyway.”
